A tachometer or tacho as it is more commonly know is a device used to show the rotational rate of an engines crankshaft. Measured by the spark rate of the ignition system the tacho is gauged in RPM (Revolutions Per Minute). This is moreso for manual vehicles to assist the driver in helping when to shift gears.
