paulo feio Posted June 17, 2004 Report Posted June 17, 2004 I drive a Toyota Sprinter (Japanese MOdel ) engine: AE100 5125309 chassis: 5AB 665600, and I need to know if can run on unleaded petrol. Quote
andrew Posted June 17, 2004 Report Posted June 17, 2004 if it's an "AE100" then it will be a later model, therefore yes, it should only use unleaded. what year/ motor is it? by the way, welcome to rollaclub Quote
irokin Posted June 17, 2004 Report Posted June 17, 2004 All toyotas from Mid 1973 on can run unleaded petrol without modification. I have a 1973 KE20 and I run unleaded all day every day... Quote
NickAE86 Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 what year is it? at a minimum run unleaded...personally id run premium the japanese sprinters ie: levins, came with a 4age so unleaded is a must unless you picked up a carby ae85 Quote
MarcD Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 4K's don't have any problems running on Unleaded? Quote
mumblezzz Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 My blue car f@$king hates ultimate but runs fine on super. Yet my red car could barely hold idle on anything else. Go figure. Quote
Super Jamie Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 i'd guess 4ac needs timing advanced to suit the higher octane fuel. some people on oldcorollas reckon their motors run SLOWER with bp ultimate than regular unleaded, when running stock ignition timing. 4age is designed to run on high octane fuel, especially if it's a jap motor, or has had the head skimmed at some point in its life Quote
Teddy Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 (edited) atm, mines on 75% Leaded & 25% Top_of_de_range Bp stuff (ultimate?) meh - it runs like smooooth, and since justin's tune up, it runs even better! GO THE 4K ! Edited June 18, 2004 by Grimwolge Quote
Super Jamie Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 i found any more than 12 degrees advance with a stock distributor really restricted power up high. i used to do big full throttle runs up a hill with my stock 3k. on 20 degrees i could barely get to 105km/h, with 10 or 12 degrees i'd get up to 125km. 20 degrees did, however, make the car totally crack at low rpm :D instant throttle response Quote
irokin Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 I believe the fuel you run and how well it runs is all related to tuning. Changing to 98RON from 91RON and you will need to re-tune to reap the benifits. I found running 91RON yealded more power than 98RON without tuning for the change... Quote
mumblezzz Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 4AGE is still in peices, this was with the 4ac... Quote
irokin Posted June 19, 2004 Report Posted June 19, 2004 Just on another note...if you have been running leaded fuel in the AE100 CHANGE YOUR EGO sensor!! (exhaust gas oxygen). Lead will be built up around the sensor and it wont be able to sense the oxygen content in the exhaust which will result in bad fuel economy and power. I am unsure what Lead replacement fuel does to EGO sensors...But I wouldnt think it would be good... Quote
paulo feio Posted June 21, 2004 Author Report Posted June 21, 2004 if it's an "AE100" then it will be a later model, therefore yes, it should only use unleaded. what year/ motor is it? by the way, welcome to rollaclub It is an 1992 model with 4AFE engine. Quote
irokin Posted June 21, 2004 Report Posted June 21, 2004 yes most definetly unleaded! I have absolutly no doubt Quote
