kickn5k Posted August 7, 2011 Author Report Posted August 7, 2011 look into the for EDIS wasted spark system perhaps it can be adapted to be full sequential? popular with gus running megasquirt Cheers for that. I had a good look, got my autoelec looking into it. I reckon if I ran two either front and back of crank or front of crank and off camshaft I could easily get it to work. I've located a dual pulse CAS to borrow/copy/work out stuff. Thanks Taz!!! Stu. Quote
kickn5k Posted September 10, 2011 Author Report Posted September 10, 2011 Thought i needed to a bit of an update. Not much work has gone into it yet, but i prety much have most things i need to get everything going fab wise. Really only waiting on injectors to arrive so i can get the bosses for the inlet and the laser cutter to finish the flanges and I'm good to go. My new bosch 044 pump with billet clamp and billet filter arrived last week. Let these do the talking. It`s off at the moment getting the wastegate flap welded. It`s a bit bigger on the front than a "disco potato" but near enough the same on the rear. stu. Quote
untubbed_20 Posted September 14, 2011 Report Posted September 14, 2011 2530 ?? or 2535, why you welding up the gate, they control 24psi fine on a 5k with the standard one cheers darren Quote
Evan G Posted September 14, 2011 Report Posted September 14, 2011 welding cast iron with the arc welder and cast rods, very untidy welds Quote

I got this for a 4agte I put together for a mate. I'm thinking of welding the gate as it didn't come with the actuator and I got a tial 38mm sitting here. The guy doing the manifolds said today actualy that he wasn't going to weld it until we had made sure we can squeeze all this crap into the KE-11 bay. Stu. Quote
Taz_Rx Posted September 15, 2011 Report Posted September 15, 2011 Looks like its got a GTR rear housing on it too. No biggy, just means you can't use a CA/SR dump pipe as the flange is different. Quote
untubbed_20 Posted September 15, 2011 Report Posted September 15, 2011 (edited) Actuators are cheap, about $80 or something for a 18psi one, easier than piss farting around for no gain. this thing will fly..I'd half think about putting a .48 T25G exhaust housing on it, thats what i wanted to do to mine just never got around to it you know what this build needs now to take it to the next K motor level..E85:) cheers darren Edited September 15, 2011 by untubbed_20 1 Quote

Cause was just out playing in the shed and I thought for s&g's I'd put the magnet on the rear wheel and she not magnetic!!! So then I check where the tag normally is and nothing(in saying that it's a flimsy bit of steel held by one tiny tag). It seems to measure right on the inducer and exducer diam(did they make a bush bearing ceramic wheel/shaft one)Do I feck it off and buy a new Garrett?? Or am I just panicking? Oh e85 um well um maybe. Could sort of be the reason for the external gate. But still not sure on fuel, I do have another choice but I'm keeping that one quiet. Stu. Is this the HKS you're talking about? If the HKS exhaust wheel is non-magnetic then that would suggest its possibly INCONEL! Which is about as good as it gets for turbo wheels. I checked my inconel T28 wheel and its non-magnetic. As for bush bearing, I would suspect the HKS 2530s are all ball bearing but you're going to have to figure that one out. Quote

It's probably been about 11 years since I had anything to do with material tech. I was thinking it would be something special material wise they aren't twice the price of a Garrett for no reason. I dropped it off to MTQ this morning for them to check it all out for me so I'll see what's going on this arvo. Stu. Quote
irokin Posted September 22, 2011 Report Posted September 22, 2011 Ah you'll have all the answers after that then ;) Yea, I certainly think HKS goes that little bit further with their turbos. Everyone was ranting and raving when Garrett bought out their version of the HKS GT-RS, the GT2871R 52 trim. There was gonna be back to back testing and they were gonna show how much of a rip the HKS version was. The testing happened but the results never materialised (not in a timely manner anyway). The Garrett version is still very good, I've got that turbo myself, but the HKS version is still better IMO. Quote
Taz_Rx Posted September 22, 2011 Report Posted September 22, 2011 Garrett do inconel wheels and shafts in some of their gt range like the 2556r (iirc) for "extreme applications". Price difference was only like $150 as well! Quote
