Adam_ke55 Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 hey all, does anyone know where abouts in the sydney area i could get a roof lining for a ke20? cheers adam Quote
counc Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 spotlight :D (and I'm dead serious here) the old rollas are simple as to change the roof lining all you need is a sewing machine the material you wanna use and front and rear window rubbers. I done my old ke10 that way and am planning on doing my ke11 the same way. Quote
Adam_ke55 Posted September 16, 2006 Author Report Posted September 16, 2006 haha ok, I'm no good with sewing its my sisters car anyway...although what do you sew it to? Quote
ke20man Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 probably the best thing would be is to find a motor trimmer in your area and get them to make 1 one up 4 for u you and get them to put it in :D Quote
TheNOBBLER[RL] Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 I'm a trimmer... but I'm no help to you as I'm in Melb! Go and see a local trimmer, you can't beat it. You will get a far better job than at home on the janome! (no offence counc) You will pay more than a spotlight job but you WILL notice the difference. J. Quote
Adam_ke55 Posted September 17, 2006 Author Report Posted September 17, 2006 how much would it roughly cost to get a trimmer to do it? Quote
cuzzo Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 Do yo need to pull out thefron and back windows?? or just poke it in there? The original lining went under the windows. Quote
ke20man Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 I'm a trimmer to and i roughly think it would be around $150 not 100% sure but yeah best thing would be to ring around.. and maybe buy ur own material that would brign the cost down also Quote

J. lol no offence taken if you take your time like i did and can use a sewing machine you wont notice the difference ;) . And yes in the older models the roof lining goes under the windscreens so for a proper job they need to be removed. Quote
MissSydneyCruising Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 I can recommend a few trimmers in western sydney, if you would like their numbers PM me ;) Quote
TheNOBBLER[RL] Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 The added bonus of getting a trimer to do it is they can organise the windows to be re-fitted after the job is done, well, thats what we do anyway. So its a nice drive in drive out situation. Jarrad. Quote
philba Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 (edited) Is it the same for ke70's? And what are they sewn onto? Mine has nothing at all Edited October 17, 2006 by philba Quote
philba Posted December 2, 2006 Report Posted December 2, 2006 Pulled one apart today to get a rough idea. Where can we get the metal bar thingy's from? ke20man - recon you could make me one and I can pick it up over easter when I'm down? :) People here are saying $450 - $550 I perfer your $150 but is that for ke70 a well? AMY. Quote
love ke70 Posted December 3, 2006 Report Posted December 3, 2006 i got mine done for the ke70 by a trimmer can't remember but i thought it was ~100 to get it done. all i did is took the original in with the metal rods and everything, and he used the original as a template and then just put the rods thru the new one. then i took it home and put it in and got the windscreens put in. philba, what you may find is that they are quoting you for: 1) removal of front and rear screens 2) removal of original roof lining 3) material 4) making the new lining 5) fitting the new lining 6)putting the front and rear screens back in. with my car, my front screen was f@$ked, and i removed the rear screen myself before i did my paint work. so it was all out already. once i got the lining made i of course had to get someone to come and put the screens back in (after repaint etc) i can't remember what i paid, but my mate paid 55 each to take out and 55 each to put back in. so 220 alone is just windscreen in and out. but that was a mobile guy, not driven somewhere. but if they are doing that i see whyt he price is high Quote
