Andrew Ryan Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 I'm going to have to polish my tails, then maybe fix my reverse lights that don't work. Don't know why they don't work, too scared to get into them. Quote
Coyote Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 not to mention normal LEDS are 1.5V you go and plug them into a 12V system and well lets just say i want some photos :D Quote
JiP Posted September 15, 2006 Author Report Posted September 15, 2006 Cool, thanks. I didn't know that plastic polish existed. I'll get onto that. Quote
HEKTIC Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 this sounds like a good idea, :D Quote
mikeys toy[RL] Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 i used this stuff and it worked AWESOME!!! just clean really well with scotch-brite and maybe use an adhesion promoter (i didn't) the thicker you spray, the darker it gets, but i sprayed it pretty thick and they look fine Quote
Des Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 not to mention normal LEDS are 1.5V you go and plug them into a 12V system and well lets just say i want some photos :P For some reason i don't think the led's that go in cars are 1.5 volts. :D Quote
coln72 Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 "not to mention normal LEDS are 1.5V you go and plug them into a 12V system and well lets just say i want some photos " Â Ah hah young man, these ones are 12v and are made up of 15 separate LED's. They even have a globe fitting so all you do is shove em in where your old one was. Quote
HEKTIC Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 "mikeys toy" that look awesome Quote
camerondownunder88 Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 Hi, With led's they are 1.5V BUT If you pull off the bottom of the ones at dick smith you will notice a thing called a RESISTOR..... These things are easy to do at home but for a quick way get eh pre made ones there cheap and done for you no etching boards and all that. Also avoid the super cheap ones. Was comparing them the other day and the super cheap one its interior LED light has 3 LEDs in it for a cost of $3 more than dick smith and the dick smith one has 6 LED's in it so go figure. So no I agree use dick smith ones but all the LED's are 1.5V. Â Cameron Quote
Jason Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 (edited) or..... Â you can use a regulator to always make sure they run at a certain voltage becuse cars powersupply will vary therefor making the brightness vary. If get a a resitace value for a set voltage it doesnt work over a range. You will burn them out for will be dull. Â So a simple regulator circuit to supply the reverse, indicator and tail lights, then you will wont a second circuit that cuts off the power from the taillights and provides the leds with max current (assuming you run them on like 1/2 current for taillight use) Â ruts you can get super brightleds that hurt when you look at them in the same package. Or you could get even brighten lexan stars that need heat sinks and are roughfly about 100million times brighter than the sun ;) Â Â J Â and for the record jaycar is a dickload cheaper than dicksmith Edited September 17, 2006 by irokin Quote
irokin Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 I wasnt talking about dicky little LED replacement "globes", I'm talking about panels of LEDs like this. http://www.allproducts.com/ee/lastertech/2...truck_light.jpg Quote
Jason Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 yeah those globes suck worse, i think it would be sweet to make up an array inside the orignal taillights Quote
