Hey.

 

Looks like ill be ripping the 4k out of my wrecking car 2moz. it's in good nick and has air con so i can supercharge it easy! calm down! I'm so not superchargerin....yet...lol

 

Yeah I'm plannin on lightening the flywheel, stage 2 cam, big clean up of the whole engine new hoses, spark plugs etc, extractors, maybe some head work, modify the dizzy and a carby.

 

Any tips would be great cause I'm only a 16 and on L's so i have limited experience with modifing motors!

Neat little rolla you got there mate, nice find. You'll find a nice collection of info in the FAQ on how to build a tough K motor, might be worth reading over. Electric dizzy's are a little hard to find, you'll find commercial wreckers are a good place to look as the 5K's came in the ol' liteace.

 

I reakon it'd be worth the money to save up and get a nice set of DCOE webers/dellorto's, they hold there value really well too if you went down the supercharger line and had to part with them.

Hey yall.

 

I did the boot on the weekend. was gonna rip the 4k out of the other rolla but didn't happen.

there are some pics below. i kept it pretty simple just a floor and fuel tank cover and it cost bout $40 and an hour and a half to do. Didn't do the sides cause it wouldve been a bit tricky!

Iv had a rethink about the motor though, I'm only plannin to keep the car for bout a year or so until i can afford a sprinter. So iv decided to ditch the 4k and just do some simple mods on the 3k. saves rippin 2 motors out and it's gonna be cheaper.

 

The 3k has an oil leak from the rear main seal so the motor or box needs to come out anyway. so while it's all apart I'm gettin the flywheel lightened, extractors and a stage 2 cam and givin it a general clean up. this is all happenen next monday. the cars gonna be of the road for a few days.:P

 

It's not much but i am only 16 so it will be fun enough until i get a sprinter and i think its more realistic option. And i am even luving drivin the stock 3k with the exhaust note. and the notorious jerky diff is making me develope smooth gear changes and clutch control too. so it's a great first car! ;)

Hey yall been a while since i posted an update, sorry!

 

Anyway i am a very happy camper cause i know have a 4k in the car.

 

 

I was gonna tweak the 3k but the 4k that was in the wreckin rolla i had was better so i went with it.

 

yesterday i ripped out, with the help of a coulple of mate, the 2 motors and swapped stuff to make the 4k the best it could be. And the cam got sent the waggot cams to get modified and the flywheel got sent there too and they lightened it from like 8.3 to 6.9kg. And we gave the motor a good clean up inside and out and replaced gasgets, some seals etc.

 

I'm very happy now, it's got enough grunt for a L plater to have fun. iv fanged it round all mourning and the mods makes such a difference, it revs really free and you really feel the cam kick in bout 3000rpm. and the bling air filter makes the carby suck better and louder. it only cost a few hundred too cause all the labour was done by me and my mates!

 

And it sounds about that mean now to!

Yo.

 

Been driving the rolla all day workin in the new 4k. it wasn't sparkin smooth so i put new spark plugs in and it's running great now!

 

Did the big wheel spin comin out of some corners too, good fun and my dad who was in the car cause of the L plates didn't notice for some reason so I'm down with that!

Nice work, now all you need to do is get a new carby, a mate of mine has a 180 Holley that's never been used and I have an adapter plate spare. They're a 32/36 weber remake but have the advantage of using holley jets that are half the price of weber ones and still can be bought off the shelf. $60 for the carb and the plate, has no filter though.

Beerhead- sic thanks that sounds like a good deal for the carb. i probably would look at it more but i need to pay back my debts first and it could take a month or two so yeah it would so be gone by then!

 

Latest mod- 4" TACHO! oh yeah! iv had it sittin round for a bit so thought i might get it in!

It didn't work on the dash or steering column so had the ingenious idea of mounting it on the door!

 

It's looks freaking sick on the door and its still easy to look at and stuff so it aiight!

 

When I'm on P's and cruisin up the coast i can pull up at da lights, hot car next to me, open the door and let em see the mighty 4K rev!
