Dan Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 G'day. I'm slowly getting less and less time to work on the car, and the rollcage is getting rustier and now all the f@$king work (15-20hrs) that I've put into sanding it back and priming has gone to shit because of the piss poor weather that Perth has been suffering lately. Pissed off :y: Anyway, I had the brilliant idea of giving the rollcage to a sandblaster/powdercoater as it is now, and get it back as one nice, smooth, rust free powdercoated black rollcage ;) Just want to know a ballpark figure of what it would cost to get done.. Yes, tomorrow I will call to see how much it is exactly, but its plaguing my mind at the moment and since I'm going to be busy as f@$k tomorrow with school and packing for brissy.... 'you join the dots'. Anyway, ballpark figure on this rollcage :y: Pic attached Thanks, Dan Quote
Robert Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 It cost me $40 to get my bmx frame sandblasted and powdercoated 2 years ago $15 sandblasting $25 Powdercoating thats possibly 3-4 times the size of a bike frame so approx $45 sandblasting $75 powdercoating $120 approximately, probably a little more Cheers, Rob Quote
Jono Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 what are you putting that cage into dan? Quote
Dan Posted September 6, 2006 Author Report Posted September 6, 2006 KE55 coupe, speedway car. Its a bumper to bumper cage, we put them in, in three sections (front, cage and back). How come you ask that? Quote
Jono Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 i think you just answered how it all fits together, cheers. Quote
lappy Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 oooh powder coated it will be a flash one dan Quote
Dan Posted September 6, 2006 Author Report Posted September 6, 2006 Haha I don't care what it is, as long as its in my car and passes scrutineering, I am sick to death of being lazy and stalled on this one bit, I'm not even sure yet whether the KE20 cage will fit a KE30-55, if not, I'll go out and buy a $200 KE20 and strip the f@$ker... I just want to be on the bloody track and I don't care how much it costs me.. Quote
Corolla_Kid Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 Don't wreck another ke20 ;) Quote
lappy Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 I just want to be on the bloody track and I don't care how much it costs me.. it gets like that sometimes but you will need to hurry up because you will only have this year and next year to race because then you will be too old Quote
Dan Posted September 7, 2006 Author Report Posted September 7, 2006 (edited) Yep. I get to race in the season that I turn 17 though, so two and a half seasons... still, I should have finished my car at the start of the season instead of worrying about the POS Falcon and getting pissed on the weekend ;) Don't wreck another ke20 Why not? If its a rusted out piece of shit like the majority of the cheap ke20s over here, its better getting another two years of life on the track than living in sims metal or some shit...
