styler Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 (edited) seems like a lot of people are doing entire strut conversions to get an easy brake / spring / damper / camber upgrade. ke30: i know the corona xt130 are popular and are almost a bolt in fit?, as well as doing the pug hilux brake upgrade on them. ke20: celica ra40 struts and control arms? any others? Raven Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 RA40 celica struts bolt into a KE30/55 Could possibly do that to KE20/25 too, but I'm not sure about obtaining any negative camber with such a large spring diameter. You'd wanna go coil-over conversion to get negative camber though. Quote
jamesrolla Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 i have seen people use datsun struts in ke10's, i would like to know a bit more about it, my mates old ke10 had stanza front struts and a 100kw 4age, the struts were supposedly fitted with not to much hassel, anyone know about it I'm pretty happy with my standard ke10 struts with ke20 cut down coils and removed transverse leaf Quote
NickZ Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 i just put ke30 struts with ra40 strut tops, lower control arms, tie rods and steering arms into my Datsun 1200 ute, so i guess you could interchange parts. Quote
Raven Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 (edited) I'm going for the coil-over conversion. RA40 struts, pillow-ball bearings, camber plate, top-hat etc etc. I might bite the bullet and go for the Noltec Kit yet.... Edited September 7, 2006 by Raven Quote
jamesrolla Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 cool, i might have a bit of a mess around with my new ke38 when i get it to try and fit some datsun 240k struts i have into it, just for a bit of fun, the only reason i used stock struts and stock springs etc is because i can't afford anything dear, i am just using what i allready have, Quote
Dyzza Posted September 9, 2006 Report Posted September 9, 2006 hmm for a ke30, the easier jobby is to use ta22 struts and lower control arms... just gotta swap over the strut tops - child's play, and bolt up the control arms ... I'm doin this soon... its good coz stock corolla vs stock ta22 celica suspension - the celica stuff is seomthing like 30mm lower standard.. so the idea is to get ta22 low king springs and some shocks - and you're ke30 will sit low. tyre shouldn't be much above the guard :P ra40 gear has bigger discs and stuff, but not as low ... hope this helps dyzza Quote
anastasios Posted September 9, 2006 Report Posted September 9, 2006 Yep i have done the ta22 conversion and the braking is a good upgrade if you are deciding to go with a 5k, I was wondering if any one would know if 86 struts would bolt in? Quote
Raven Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006 (edited) 86 struts are the same diameter and bolt spacing as RA40 on the bottom of the strut as far as I know.... Edited September 10, 2006 by Raven Quote
casey Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006 how would i go about putting ra6* struts in my rolla? Quote
Raven Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006 Apparently they also have the same bolt spacing at the bottom of the strut as RA40. Only difference between the two struts are the diameter of the centre hole of the disc and the fact that its vented. Quote
Stackas Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006 I put the strut, brake and control arms from a 85 supra in my ke70. (I think they are the same as celica?). They work great and i can lock it up at any speed. However it raised the ride height and gave me positive camber. very easy conversion Quote
Raven Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006 Shorten your struts to reduce the positive camber. I'm now wondering if RA60 Celica struts will fit on KE30 LCA's because if they do, I'm going vented discs in my KE25. Quote
anastasios Posted September 11, 2006 Report Posted September 11, 2006 Why don't u just use the RA60 steering arm on the KE30 ball joint and it will bolt up with no problems? Would anyone know if an 86 shock will bolt up to 55 strut top? Quote
casey Posted September 11, 2006 Report Posted September 11, 2006 *off topic* ra6*'s hav drum rear right? Quote
