Raven Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 Today I went looking to get full comprehensive insurance for my KE25 Coupe. Two problems popped up. 1. The KE25 isnt listed in the RAA's database and isnt listed on Just Car Insurance's database when I checked at Autosalon. 2. Apparently its an import, so I can only get full comprehensive on it anyway. So who do you recommend to get insurance through that are based through-out Australia? Quote
irokin Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 2. Apparently its an import, so I can only get full comprehensive on it anyway. What? My silvia couldnt be any more imported and I can get 3rd party fire and theft no worries. ...??? Have you tried calling Just Car? They seem rather flexable. Quote
thomo Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 i don't recomend this but in all my years driving i've never had insurance what is it $2500 a year? 12 years driving = $30,000 2 right offs (just the cheap run arounds) $2000 1 0ther car hit $3000 I'm $25,000 in front! i would have to be doing something realy stupid to do more than $25,000 damage to someone elses car, and i know mines not worth that if i loose it the risk i run is that if i do that kind of damage i need to come up with the cash, rather than effectively having it held in trust by an insurance company (and years of dealing with them... well i just don't trust them to pay up, but thats me) Quote
MRMOPARMAN Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 whose to say one of the write offs wont be a new merc? i can't talk, ive been driving for 6 years with no insurance but that will change over the next few weeks! id be checking shannons, they insure oddballs no worries (not that a ke25 is one) but they are even suprisingly cheap doing so! irokin Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 Comprehensive is a bit rich these days, esp for a corolla, but I can't advocate having no insurance at all. Get 3rd party at LEAST. If you hit a Porsche you'll be paying out the arsehole to replace it. Quote
Raven Posted August 30, 2006 Author Report Posted August 30, 2006 (edited) Just Car Insurance wanted $597 for full comp, with a $1350 excess. No thanks. SGIC Insurance on the other hand wanted $386 for my car. I'm a Rating 1 as well. So I went with them. :D Edited August 30, 2006 by Raven Quote
Rolla__Boy Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 I've never had insurance either, I was 17 with a 351 XY Falcon...no insurance company would touch me, and I just never bothered after that haha I've had one accident, hit a tarago at low speed $500, never had to pay out anything other than that, so I am doing ok. But for old cars, Shannons are the go definately. Give them a call Clicky Quote
Jono Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 shannons quoted me $650 for my ke20 full comp with 4age. Quote
Raven Posted August 30, 2006 Author Report Posted August 30, 2006 I gotta wait till July next year to go for Shannons as I'm not 25 yet. :D Stupid Shannons..... Quote
Corolla_Kid Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 JC was that agreed value? Otherwise you'll only get market value which for a ke20 is like $800-1500. My 3rd party fire and theft is $360 ish for my ke20 and i'm only 18. Quote
