Although this is open to anyone i think i have redwrf in mind when i ask this....

 

I went into pedders suspension shop today and said i have a 73 corolla and i wanna make it handle, how can you help me?

 

straight out he offers me Koni's.

 

Front , Koni strut inserts for 620 a pair internally adjustable and 700 externally adjustable

Rear, Koni again - 500 a pair

 

Front swaybar 229 for 20ml

Rear swaybar 249 16ml

 

Obviously this isnt fitted and i would like to get nolathane bushes as well but that another story.

 

Am i gettin ripped even for a quote or does that sound about right.

 

So prob looking round 2grand all up shocks/springs/2 swaybars/bushes.

yea i reckon ur gettin ripped off, what u can do is ring pedders and if u have any mates that are mechanics say u need them for a client and u get them half price! ive done it many times

No, he's not getting ripped off as such, he's been quoted the full retail price.

 

And we're not talking about Monroes here, we're talking real shockies.

 

Go the fully adjustables, all day, everyday.

 

Do you know someone in the game? As the bloke above us said, you can buy them via trade, and some discount will apply, not half price, Pedders don't reduce a lot or trade, and they're only buying them through a wholesaler. They can often be good if you tell the it's for a race car. It's been a long while since I've paid full retail.

 

The wholesalers for Koni's in Melbourne are mobs called Proven Products, and Top Performance. I don't know if they do retail, but it can't hurt to try. Otherwise, let your fingrs do the walking, and get a couple of quotes from Melbourne places.

 

As for swaybars, don't touch them until you have your spring rates and shocks sorted. Otherwise you're changing too many things too quickly. 20's only weigh 900kgs, and, in particular, don't really need rear swaybars. I've never touched mine on the 25.

 

Oh, and Anastasios, we don't charge by the letter. Don't be lazy, type full words.

hey muller... did you go to pedders at kangaroo flat? if so buy parts from em no worries, but don't let them do the work! they are farkin bad for upsizing.

No i don't know anyone in the game so i can't go about it that way. And i don't know anyone on here well enough really to ask that of them either.

 

Yes that was from the Kangaroo Flat store. What do you mean by them upsizing? quote something then charge more than quoted?

their favorite tricks are over quoting, hoping you'll know nothing and just say go ahead

Or giving a proper quote, u give them the go ahead.. then they ring you up 1/2 way through the job and say 'oh your car needs this and that or this' its going to cost eleventybillion dollars and we can't align you car till its done

I went back there again and got him to drop some prices. :thumbsup: Knocked $100 off the fronts.

 

My old man knows the guy that runs the shop there and he isnt the kind of guy to try that on apparently.
