Apparently here in SA (don't know about other states) the police are/have bought in a system where anyone can "dob" p platers in for "driving dangerously" or "hooning" and the cops take their word for it and you the driver get slashed with either a fine or loss of licence. Apparently they are bringing this in to stop kids from hooning around in local neighbourhoods etc. what are your thoughts on this. Wouldn it be your word against theirs. PlZ reply if you know any relative info.

Cheers :y:

I think there is a little bit more to it than that,

if your numberplate is reported to the police it is blacklisted and if the police see you get pulled over and hassled and they check your car over.

its a good law, hopefully it will stop people driving like f@$kwits in residential areas.

Cheers, Rob :y:

Would stop people from being dickheads i guess. But an old grandma's idea of hooning is alot different to the actual definition. I had an old man yelling at me because i had to brake hard when he decided to cross the road right in front of me without looking. Wouldn't be fair to be dobbed in for that would it. My car gets defected cause old man things i was driving too fast.

i like the fact that I'm on my full licence, that makes me more comfortable. i live in adelaide also, i do know the laws of which your talking about but it wont work by someone dobbing you in. police will still need to catch you in the act. but what can happen is if 3 or 4 people report your numberplate within say halfhour or hour (a decent amount of time to make cops think your still "hooning" around) then they will keep an eye out and if they find you they will pull you over and enquire, and they wont be able to fine you for what was reported but i can guarantee a regency defect.

there is nothing wrong with hooning robert. unless your just saying residential areas which i agree with because i like to have a good sleep, but having a friendly race south road late at night when no ones out never hurt anyone. except the retards that manage to lose control on a straight line some how. i swear, the way some people die on the roads i have no idea how they get in those positions, there have been so many cases where the road is dead straight, i reckon it is a retard attempting to drift and losing it due to understeer. thats my theory. i think cops need to focus less on street racing and more on old people that drive to bloody slow, and not stay left unless overtaking. that shit causes more accidents.

feel free to argue

its just another way for the government to get money out of people

i say hooning isnt that big of a deal just don't do it in residential areas, or in the middle of town, or if you have passengers, so if you do f@$k up somehow and end crashing you'll only have yourself to blame and you'll learn a very expensive lesson in the process

if anyone doesnt agree with me then fine, right of opinion, but there's more important issues out there in the world than booking people for having a little bit of fun every now and then, the police should concentrate more on the people who ACTUALLY TRY to kill/rape people etc etc

Agreed. Old people off the roads. had one lady today who stopped in the middle of the road without pulling over or anythin to let her passenger out. They had a nice chat aswell. In the mean time i'm sitting there wondering whether or not i should overtake the old lady or if she would move as soon as i went to over take.

But old people are actually safer drivers than young people. I'm sorry. That's just the facts. I've seen the stats.

No, really, they are.

I only know two speeds. Flat out and stop. i think its a matter of being sensible. there is a time and place for everything. you don't drift in peak hour. wait till nobody is on the road. one of my staff had a silvia with drift pig painted on the side. He was dobbed in to the cops. they just came to his house and told him to make his car less unique. so he got the sand paper and rubbed off the writing

You've hit the nail on the head.

Be Sensible. There's a time and place.

....and if you're not, and you do it in MY area, I'll lag you in personally.

Apparently if they take a photo of you doing a burnout or whatnot, they can dob you in for it and you can get charged. A bit contradictory though, it should be overseen because of the fact that noone asked your permission before taking the photo, there is laws against that (correct me if I'm wrong).

Hahaha thinking about cop assumptions, I got searched once when I was out at night, because they saw my white t shirt had stains on it which they thought were blood. They searched my bag, pockets etc (yes, I know they can't do it. but would i prefer them to put some shiny bracelets on my wrists and wreck my f@$king night) because they thought I was the culprit for stabbing some c**t earlier on that night... which I wasn't...

When I think about it, there are probably ten or so similar VN commonwhores in my neighbourhood. Does that mean that they will all get harassed because one guy 'f@$ked up' by smoking it up to entertain his mates?

Not FAIR

No, really, they are.

c'mon my grandma speeds more than i do.i have proof she's on good driving behaviour bond shit same as me, and i had a some old fella stop in a statsman in the middle of a main road then his reverse lights came on and the old bastard reversed into my mazda."sorry young man i was trying to reverse park".no offence to old people but you should have your licence tested every 6 months and if they do good :P .

As for hooning laws, don't do it in residental areas go find a nice quite road away from kids and people.feel free to debate with me :P .

the previous owners of my mazda stashed a small bag of weed in my mazda and forgot to take it out when they sold it to me.anyway i got pulled over for speeding and they did a quick defect check on my car they came so close to finding it but just missed it.the next day i was vaccuming the carpet then ooooo whats this, i smelt it ;) ,went to dad whats this"its weed what are doin bringing that shit in my house"not mine so i dumped it as you would.true i dumped it.fine don't believe me :y:

^^^^shows how good of a job they do.

don't you love how the government turns society on itself so theyre distracted from the real issues. :y: f@$king politicians.

Nicely put.

They are trying to push it to work and they will to a degree but it will never completely work to everyones satisfaction because of one reason: 'Hooning cannot be black and white legally'

If i decide that I'm in a hurry to get somewhere and the only way to trim the time is to take off quick at a set of lights or a stop/giveway sign or something then i can be done for excessive use of acceleration. that in its self is up to the cops descretion. If he didnt get any last night and is in a grumpy mood then you can still be done for it cause hees passing the shitty mood onto you. Its not like not wearing your seatbelt, it was either on or off. excessive use of acceleration can be used as its pleased.

And for the dobbing people in, thats a load of shit! Hooning is just whats not normal to an individual and there are hundreds of different driving types out there. Example, one day i rung the neck out of first gear and even though i didnt get above the speed limit i got 2 or 3 bad glares off people. Same speed in 4th and you can't hear it. its retarded.

/end rant.

If they try to fine you for excessive use of acceloration, tell them you were trying to get up to speed as quick as you could to keep the traffic moving. The things i hate most are slow drivers. Like doing 60/70 in a frickin 80 zone.

That hooning law your describing, wouldn't it be that if someone has a thing against you they could dob you in just for the hell of it?? Sounds unfair considdering there is no proof.

Personally, i pelieve there shouldn't be speed limits. There should be speed recomondations. Like "we recomend you do 60 here, but you can do more, f@$k up and you'll pay."

Also, on old people. I do agree that some need to be retested and that they shouldn't have their license, but some, like my old man, is quick off the mark and does follow the speeds. You can't really be shitty at the driver infront if they are doing the speed. Unless your in an 80+ zone and they're not overtaking, only hogging the right lane.
