Dear All,

 

i did have a whole essay written, but i decided.. screw that, i wont waste any more time that i need to, for your sakes and mine.

 

A Quick note to say that i am slowly (started 6 months ago?), quietly getting annoyed with how things are going around here. Every day, theres a new person bitching about something. A new person asking stupid things, resulting in more bitching. And every day, People in power are trying even harder, and spending more of there valuable time trying to restore order.

 

Some of you people need to clean your acts up, and ffs.. STOP abusing admin, I'm sick of reading the trash that some of you people are turning out each day, thick and clear.

 

And for all of you sub 20 post wonders that keep on making topics like "does a ** fit into a ****" - I know most of us are getting to the point where we are just not replying, and shouting to the screen "WE don't CARE! UGH WHAT HAPPENED TO COMMON SENSE!" Yes i Completely understand that some of you need help, and we are happy to ! But for gods sake, use some sense... and the search button :D

 

And for the rest of you that are doing a good job at keeping rollaclub the great place its always been, a credit to you. don't get me wrong, i really do love this place, and get annoyed when i can't check back here daily ! Ive met so many good people through here..

There have been times when I've seen something asked and I've seen it posted in another thread before and I probably have asked some things that have already been posted here before, but that was when I was new to the site and new to posting on a Corolla Dedicated Forum.

 

What I'm saying is there are some new internet users here who may have 1-2 posts and know nothing about the Search Function of a Forum, even though it is posted in plain view at the top of the page.

 

I too am getting sick and tired of everything that is repeated, but I am powerless to do anything about it as all I can do is report to God (Nick) about some things on here.

 

I do frequent this website every single day, before and after work and I know exactly what you mean, but in some cases, I think new people need to have a pop-up window stating the rules and if that isnt accepted then they can't post in certain sections.

 

Its an idea to combat the situation anyway.

Actually that pop up window isn't a bad idea, (providing it's not too difficult to do) I know that this is the first forum I have ever gotten into fully, and I just skipped over the search function and stuff at the top of the page when i got here

I have a mate thats good with programming and forum stuff i'll ask if he can work out the popup screen thing.

They accually tick a box saying they've read and agreed to the rules when they sign up....not much we can do if theyre lying.

Matt, you have a very serious point there.....most of the topics nowdays i will just read the title and not bother even going into the thread to look at what some idiot has posted....as for the abuse of the admin/mods, i don't think that should be tolerated at all and the person/persons should be suspended or banned indefinately.

i check here usually twice a day and sometimes find there is no posts i want to reply to.

 

unfortuntely when things get bigger you get more useless stuff, then you have to wait three days to even get one answer... even when a relatively simple few questions have been asked...

 

 

although i don't agree with the whole toymods trashing of some, but hey thats opinions for you.

Just make a new section for "Stupid Questions". If you think it may be a commonly asked question or think it is a common sense sort of thing, and are too lazy to use the search button, then post it there and if someone can be bothered then they will help you out but if not then badluck.

Is there a way to make a new user answer questions when signing up to make sure they've actually read the rules? Or when they sign up they can only pm admin with answers to a question in a thread and said admin manually activeas privlidges to other parts of the forum (reply and create topics)? I understand this is a bit of a PITA for admin but it may weed or crap.

Thats what the 'Warn %' is for i thought.

 

I don't think that you will ever stop it completely as there are stupid people all around us everywhere. :D

 

For my idea.

 

To try and stop the people with the 'sub 20 wonders' with the simple questions, which sounds like the largest problem for moderators and admin staff, you should have like a guest format. This would mean that people would have only the permission to view and reply to threads but not be able to create them.

 

This would stop the lazy people from asking the "does this fit that" and "what goes harder" questions, and encourage people to participate in discussions before just asking things. Give a little, Get a little.

 

Perhaps after 25-30 posts they would be able to creat a topic and the stupid questions will have been answered by simply looking. Or they are so lazy that they just give up and don't sign up here.

 

If THAT dosent work make the search button link MASSIVE :y:

I totally understand where you all are coming from however i am relatively new here myself and i asked one of those annoying questions :D then after posting i found the bit that says "SEARCH" maybe i was blind maybe stupid either way didn't see it, i know you all been here much longer and prob see the same stupid questions asked by people but remember there was once a time you ya selves didn't know much about rollas and needed some guidance, I'm not trying to say you should let it happen just understand that maybe there are people out there that don't know as much as you and don't know how to search or are just stupid :y:

i once had(past tense) a site with a irc chat room in it maybe you's could do that here for members (just an idea),

i don't wanna seem like the bad guy, i too love the site and visit daily

The problems not so much with guidance/advice Coyote as people asking terribly generalised questions. We've no problems helping people with the specifics but if they want us to hold their hand every step of the way and give out all the information on a silver platter...sorry no can do!
