Old Rolla's Rock Posted August 12, 2006 Report Posted August 12, 2006 I'm a new member to the community, thanks for having me. I'd like to introduce my ride.... Ke30 2dr sedan. 5K engine with weber, extractors and exhaust. Lowered all round 1.5inches, new springs at front, re-pressed leafs at back, very good interior inc. venetian blind. My problem is the body is rooted! rust, fibreglass, rust on fibreglass and dents and scratches all round- you get the idea. Any suggestions of fixing the problem or name drops for recommended body shop companies in adelaide would be a great help. Thanks and see you round. Quote

7shades Posted August 13, 2006 Report Posted August 13, 2006 My first car was a KE55 with more holes than John Howards new IR legislation.... luckily, it was the same colour as super cheap masking tape. You connect the dots... :laff: Just remember to replace it every week cos it goes all wrinkly after a while. Quote
KJ's Rollas Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 Any good body shops in the Northern suburbs?? I got a quote from my local body repair guy and it was going to cost over $500 just for a fiberglassing job to get rust fixed in the guards of my KE55! Any Ideas let me know Cheers KJ ;) Quote
Dan Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 Grind out the rust with a $10 angle grinder and bog it with a $30 tin (1.5kg, you won't use half of it) of 'body filler'. Sand it with your $10 orbital sander or your $0 hands and wa-la, your own job done ;) just remember to prime it with $2.95 paint. Even if you have to buy all the tools to do it, its still going to cost less than $50... and its near on impossible to stuff it up too badly :y: Quote
counc Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 not much to laugh at there i spose, if the body is as rooted as you say it why not give it a go, nothing like a little hands on experience. If it comes up ok after you have attacked it head to a paint shop and get a can of touch up paint matched and clean it up nice. If it doesnt come up ok at least you get rid of the cancer (for now) cheers counc Quote
