boosted_gem Posted August 10, 2006 Report Posted August 10, 2006 Hey i was just wondering what sort of sealent people use when putting the alloy cups around the sparkplugs and other gaskets on the motor as i am having trouble sealing the sparkplug cups. I've used a black silicon sealant which was a waste of time and i've now tried aviation for-a-gasket No. 3 goo no hardening. Just wondering if there is something on the market that the toyota factory used it was a grey colour Cheers nathan thanks in advance Quote
Raven Posted August 10, 2006 Report Posted August 10, 2006 (edited) You need the sparkplug tube O-rings. Ask at a parts store for them. Edited August 10, 2006 by Raven Quote
boosted_gem Posted August 10, 2006 Author Report Posted August 10, 2006 Yeah i got those but they still seam to leak passed them i think i need to use a different sealant Quote
Redwarf Posted August 10, 2006 Report Posted August 10, 2006 No, you just require the correct technology. Because the Tubes have had 30 years of Gorillas tightening them, you might find the top flange (the bit the o-ring sits under) requires a bit of tap-o-metric attention. Dress it back down to a bit over right-angles again and it will improve sealing. Giving the plug end a bit of a straighten up is also handy, too. Also have a look at the wiki: http://www.rollaclub.com/faq/index.php?tit...eries/Oil-Leaks I tend not to use sealant though. Cheers R Quote
love ke70 Posted August 11, 2006 Report Posted August 11, 2006 high temp red or blue rtv it may be solvable as red says, but its so much easier to jus goo them up i used blue, but these days i use the red for everythin basically the same shit only high temp red has a higher temperature bearing :) Quote
