I've seen plenty of pushrod crossflow motors.....

I'm guessing reason the K series arent, is because toyota had trouble fitting the engines into the KE10/11/15 series of shells.....which is also why they lean to one side......imagine trying to also fit an intake on one side and an exhaust on the other of a ridiculously small engine bay.

There has been talk of a twincam head for the 3K, but i've never personally seen one. as for crossflow.....i doubt you could modify the engine enough to even think of a crossflow head.

There's a ton of room on the spark-plug side of a 55 engine bay, and T and A series engines seem to fit on no-problemo, so I doubt girth is the main issue. Height moreso though, as the tilt of the engine would probably put the intake (the easier one to re-route) through the bonnet

Umm, they left the design the same for the KE30/55 probably because it worked for what they wanted it for......i was actually refferring to the KE10/11/15 engine bays, which is where the k engine started out.

yeah the k motors were originally made on a slant to fit into a KE10, from then on they were just reproduced, i do believe

There's no such thing as a 3K-R. The engine that is displayed when the 3K-R is referred to is actually the 150E. Yes it is based on the K-series motor, but has about as much in common with it as the 151E has with the 2T-G and the 152E has with the 18R-G or the 503E has with the 3S-GTE. There is no way you can get any parts for them - from anywhere. But it shows it can be done. :)

As for the non-crossflow design of the K-series, maybe Toyota were just feeling cheap and lazy? Anyway, isn't the K-series a rip-off of some other motor, like the A-series is strongly based on the Cosworth 1600.

hahahaha! Nah I think thats why lenny wanted to sell it... explains the shit idle and everything else he just didn't know what the problem was. Although he did tell me it 'used to go to 9...' :)

:(

That 4K does hit VTAK (y0) though... :D

PM me if you're serious about buying a 4K. We'll see what we can do. I'm half considering pulling one apart, decking the head a fair way and seeing what she'll do before she blows. :)
