ancullen Posted August 10, 2006 Report Posted August 10, 2006 Mmm, malt milkshake. I think I recognise that wheel. Can't think why though. :) One of my 4K's has already had the head changed due to it being warped. I know this because I've got the block that had the good head sitting on my parent-in-laws' lawn. Killswitch Posted August 11, 2006 Author Report Posted August 11, 2006 The culprit head... wooooo go the bottle of canadian club that got me this car... :) Quote
bruce Posted August 11, 2006 Report Posted August 11, 2006 That's a bit of corrosion. Would you have to get another head, or would you shave it down a bit? Quote
Taz_Rx Posted August 11, 2006 Report Posted August 11, 2006 :) oh nasty!!! it would be fixable by getting it grinded back welded and planed........but you could probably get another head for less than whet that will probably cost you. might be a good time to look at finding a 3k head for it!!! that valve on the right doesn't seen to be seating too well either!! Josho Posted August 11, 2006 Report Posted August 11, 2006 Like this? :D MmMmm, thats the stuff! :) Like TasRx said, best to scrap that head and get another. Quote
Killswitch Posted August 11, 2006 Author Report Posted August 11, 2006 (edited) Scrapping the whole engine, don't need it at all. So the cam will go in my other engine. Undecided on which body to use now though... I think my $27 KE70 has a better body than my other one which I paid far too much for... :) Which leaves me with quite a dilemma... Possible to sell a ke70 with RWC and a pretty shagged body/interior for $500~? :D Edited August 11, 2006 by Killswitch Quote
KE55PIG Posted October 31, 2007 Report Posted October 31, 2007 ok well i know this is old but my oil is now all like a malt shake is it cheaper to get another motor or get a new head gasket for it? at the moment the car runs really quite well but water goes down a fair bit Quote
Taz_Rx Posted October 31, 2007 Report Posted October 31, 2007 (edited) Last time I did one: Head plane - $44, Head gasket - $23 Did it myself, so no labour. + oil, coolant, goop etc. Under $100 anyway, but bare in my though you don't have to remove the block. Edit: BTW, even though you dug up an old thread its good to see somebody round here is prepared to do thier own searching, good on ya mate. :P Edited October 31, 2007 by Taz_Rx Quote
KE55PIG Posted October 31, 2007 Report Posted October 31, 2007 the car is defected it is just a thrash car but i just bought it havent had a chance to thrash it but it seems to be running fine still. how much would it be roughly to get a mechanic to do it 250 ?. cause i can get a motor put in for say like 80 bucks labor and wtever i pay for the motor Quote
Taz_Rx Posted October 31, 2007 Report Posted October 31, 2007 I paid a mechanic to do way back in the day before I knew anything about cars. Head was pretty warped and needed welding and facing. Was something stupid like $650 IIRC. :P Quote
KE55PIG Posted December 26, 2007 Report Posted December 26, 2007 ok i need to know what bolts to undo to take the head of urgent !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! really need to no emaill me or pm me [email protected] ive got the ones on left and ones on righ undone but head still wont come off ! Quote
love ke70 Posted December 26, 2007 Report Posted December 26, 2007 i think ive said it before. hit it with a hammer if all the head bolts are out. theyre pretty obvious. and make sure theres nothing else connecting the block to the head, like brackets for stuff or the water pump. Quote
philbey Posted January 10, 2008 Report Posted January 10, 2008 taz, you paid 23 bucks for a Head gasket? damn thats crazy. 6 bucks on ebay +5 for postage. I didnt even need it, just bought it cos it was cheap! haha. Quote
Rolla__Boy Posted January 11, 2008 Report Posted January 11, 2008 Yeah but he probably used a head gasket that will last more than a week :fuzz: Quote
