Nitephyre Posted August 21, 2006 Author Report Posted August 21, 2006 (edited) *echo* ooh look, more bloody tumbleweed... So, does anyone in Brissy (pref Northside or closeish to Northgate) have a fairly decent radiator from an AE71 (needs to be for a 4A-C)... I've got some prices and brand newies are around $360-$400.. or a recore is around $300, which I now can't quite afford since our hot water system busted itself on saturday night... there goes $1k we don't have.. sigh. Nitephyre Posted August 21, 2006 Author Report Posted August 21, 2006 lol, I got into that world 8 years ago :) Quote
Nitephyre Posted August 26, 2006 Author Report Posted August 26, 2006 hmm, wind tunnel... anyhow, I bought a tacho dash off ebay last week for $80 shipped which was sweet... BUT I thought that it'd be just plug and play, which it is except the wiring is different... wrong lights coming on, others not working etc.. bugger. SO is there much wiring work that needs to happen for it to work properly? cheers. Quote
irokin Posted August 26, 2006 Report Posted August 26, 2006 I thought they were just plug and play too. Teddy will know, hes done a few inc mine. Quote
Medicine_Man Posted August 26, 2006 Report Posted August 26, 2006 As far as I am aware they should just plug in and go.. Radiator in adelaide for $50 that i'm pretty sure would suite your car on ae86 driving club.. http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forum/in...ic=7824&hl= Quote
Nitephyre Posted August 27, 2006 Author Report Posted August 27, 2006 i'd say the wiring between sedan/wagon and panelvans is different. the tacho cluster is also slightly wider and taller, so i'll need to get the black dash insert from a tacho dash model as well :P And also, I knew I was right WRT the colour of perspex on the clusters, the panelvan ones ARE clear, and the sedan/wagon ones ARE tinted green... just for info :y: hmm, that rad looks ok... except it looks larger than what's in mine... ah well ;) Quote
irokin Posted August 27, 2006 Report Posted August 27, 2006 Wow...theres more than meets the eye with the panelvans. Might be able to just repin the connector if someones got a diagram or photo of a standard xE70 one. Quote
Nitephyre Posted August 27, 2006 Author Report Posted August 27, 2006 possibly, i was thinking about that... somehow... Quote
Nitephyre Posted September 8, 2006 Author Report Posted September 8, 2006 I had a brand new radiator installed on Tuesday with the whole pressure flush etc.. a nice $430. I recommend Red Devil on Toombul Rd Virginia and speak to Dave... great prompt service. It's -almost- fixed my heat woes, although i'm fairly positive that i also need a new water pump, because i still have a leak... So i should have one coming from ebay in the next week or so, and once i can get the additional gaskets i need {Cheers, Matt :y:} i'm 90% sure my heat issues will be resolved, although if anyone has a working 4A-C temp sender I could borrow it would be sweet to help me diagnose :P Quote
beerhead Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006 Hey how's it going, I'm Brad went to Nambour High with Stu Brown, I came the year you left, but met you at a piss up at his place one time at Indooroopilly. Nice to hear you've nearly got the glitches sorted out with the car. My wreck has a newish water pump on it you can have if you want to give it a try, second hand ones are abit iffy, but might be worth a shot. Quote
Nitephyre Posted September 12, 2006 Author Report Posted September 12, 2006 well f@$k me, another namboringan :( yeh i left in 96 (yr 10), but I never made it to any pissups while he was in Brissie unfortunately, so that woulda been another Matt most likely :D --- sweet guys, anything helps... if you PM addresses i'll see when I can get around :) Quote

Hmm, my mind might be failing me :D BTW, I have a 4AC AE71 wagon 2 1/4 system that bolts to the standard flange lying around too if it's any use to you. Spare diff there too, will be going to the crusher if I can't get rid of em. Quote
