Hi I'm a nubi got my first KE20 rescentley...

I'm pretty sure it's got pedders shocks of some kind. running 15's it's stiff butt scrapes a bit

and the front end is all over the shop. I'm tracking down some nolethyne bushes, and it does need

an alignment.

I guess cause i've been into mini's I just want it to be like a go cart.Any suggestions?

Cheers

Redrill your crossmember to get some -ve camber, tighten the castor bars up as tight as they will go.

Not the person to ask about springs as I'm running standard struts and cut springs.

If money is no object just get some coil overs.

Hey cool thanks for the response.is there anyware in particular to drill?

and where and how much could i find some coil overs are they a pretty standard thing.

I notice there are leaf springs in the back...do you replace them.

thanks again

Just moved out an inch and up a wee bit. Helped reduce understeer. Kept the rear leaves but removed two leaves from the pack to reduce the spring rate.

Stuffed if I know anything about coilovers except that they would be a custom job. Talk to Fook (re coilovers) or Redwrf (KE2? God) as they are into competition a lot more than me.

cheers man i'll deff' look into that.

i was thinking of taking leaves out to lower it.bit if adds to the handling

for sure. :lock_folder:

what are you driving there?

Only did the rear leaves as a cheap assed way of reducing oversteer - I could always go back if it was shit.

My set up will not suit everyone, but I like it. I don't mind a bit of body roll and I was not competing a huge speeds (max revs in 3rd was the highest) mainly on dirt so I didnt need super stiff suspension.

Also I was trying to compensate for a locked diff.

hehe sounds like fun to me!

I'm thinking pretty stiff but i wanna get it low as well being a street car.

do you need to throw in lowering blocks? I'm gonna have to lip the gaurds they are already

scrapin away. givin the 15" 195's

With the right offset rims you can get 205/60/13's under the back easy :lock:

If you want really low at the back, dismantle the leaf pack, put the main leaf in a hydrolic press and straighten so its around 2" less curved, reassemble and fit into car. Leaves will end up curved the wrong way but it will be LOW. Just off the bump stops in my old KE35 anyway :lock_folder: .

I had 225/60/13's under my 35 with clearance and a mates Sigma alloys bolted up (225/?/15's) but due to the offset looked shit with my widened guards. If you have ever seen an XA/XB coupe on standard steelies you would get the idea.

My problem today is that I've been working on the wrong bloody one. However, Mrs Dwarf's car is good for another 264000 kms now. :P

Sorry, I'll try and do it tomorrow.

hey Mr Dwarf.

just talking to Colin about lowering ,handleing etc...

wondering if you guys know of an easy whay to lip or role the guards.

Preferably without chiping all the paint in the process.

It should be stated that I own rally cars, and therefore don't mind a bit of buggered paint, and as such, the wrong person tio ask that question. You can get it done relatively easily as there are specific tools around that will do the job. I've done it in the past with anything from a pair of multigips to an anvil in the boot plus two mates and a piece of roll cage pipe.

As for suspension, like anything, you get what you pay for. The front struts on the 25 are custom Pedders, made in melbourne. They're excellent. (see below) I run 225 lb springs in it, which is a bit heavy for rally, and a bit light for tarmac, but works well as a happy medium.

You can also do things like put more thread on your castor arms (may need machining to initial threading size) to get a greater amount of castor. I'm also tend to make adjustable lower control arms by installing rose joints (Note:Not a legal mod).

I run two different spring packs, although both run the same springs reset. I also run an extra 8mm leaf in both packs. For shock adsorbtion on the 25 I've had great success with Pedders comfort gas. Honestly! I don't advise this for all Corollas, as the 37 had something similar and they sucked badly. (I hae Bilsteins in that one now). The tarmac pack also has the main leaf flipped so the eyelets are upside down. This allows the spring to maintain some of the original curve. Unfortunately I don't have any picture of the springs handy. However I'll include pics in both high and low trim.
