The shed will have lights, power, and water. I'm eyeing off some blocks in Humpty Doo for around $260,000-280,000. There are some apparently available for $240,000, which would mean I could get one, with a shed built on it for under $300,000 (I hope). I've just got to prove to the bank that I could afford around $600/week in repayments. Alley and I can afford it, or we could if we were renting space out anyway. Doing a (very) rough cost analysis, it looks like buying a shed and living in it, and selling our unit might be the best option. ;) I really wanted to hang onto that unit too.

Wait awhile until the end of the year, interest rates hit 10% prices with come down. I remember in 1987 when they were up to 17%, think carefully.

10%? You're somewhat pessimistic. I don't think they'll get that high again (this time anyway). The official Reserve Bank interest rate hit 7% yesterday - from all the talk I've heard, I doubt it'll go higher than 8.5% within the next two years. My Mum & Dad did have a loan that was effective early enough to be capped by government at 13% or something. Then they had to refinance (can't remember why) and got the higher rate. Then they got a business loan at some RIDICULOUS rate - over 20% I think. Crazy times - I hope they never get that high again. I don't know how my parents managed it. It's no wonder both Mum & Dad had to work all the time leaving no time to spend with my sister & I.

Interesting side note: apparently when my Dad was a car salesman in the mid 80's, he and Mum worked out that if he good get a pay rise up to $18,000/year (he wasn't far off it), Mum could stay home to look after the two kids and we could all live fairly comfortably. How quickly things changed for them (Dad got fired and interest rates went through the roof).

Just bought 4 of which 3 are good for $50 bucks more, what a piss off.

Have your copy of Hogfather here.

I'll have to stop by on Friday and pick it up - thanks. And I'll return the other two DVD's and the PC case at the same time. Unfortunately neither the case or the power supply suit my mainboard.
