Raven Posted September 20, 2006 Author Report Posted September 20, 2006 Been there, tried that. It's going to take way too much off the caliper and compromise its structural integrity to resort to filing/dremel/grinding the caliper down. Quote
muller Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 Worth a try :) Build up is looking tops so far, keep it up :D Quote
Raven Posted September 26, 2006 Author Report Posted September 26, 2006 Update time! I scored a set of 4 Nissan Bluebird stocky rims in 14 inch size for my coupe so I can do my brake upgrade when I finally get enough money together to sort that out. My nickname display plate arrived too which you'll see in the pics below so those of you who think they see me getting around, check for the plate or placement of stickers on my car. I quickly detailed my car on the outside today but have misplaced my chamois (damn it!). So this is the current condition of the car. I'll probably get the primer patches fixed up and roughly blended soon as well. Cheers Mick Quote
LINDSAY Posted October 5, 2006 Report Posted October 5, 2006 Hi Raven , loving your 25 man , looks good. hows the brake upgrage coming along ? i've been following this with some interest cause i'm not far off starting a brake upgrade on my 25 , are you going to change the control arms ( i've heard something about issues with camber with the standard ke25 ones) Just intrested to see which way you go with yours , keep up the good work mate GO THE 25'S Lindsay Quote
Raven Posted October 5, 2006 Author Report Posted October 5, 2006 I was put off my last job so it all came to a grinding halt. I start a new job on Monday and i only need the coil-over sleeve kit and strut inserts to continue with it. Basically, I'm going to short the struts by 40mm and put AE92 short stroke inserts in (providing they are the right size). With the camber it will either be adjusted with adjustable camber tops and possibly the RA60 Celica lower control arms (providing they fit). You would just use the RA60 steering arms off the bottom of the strut and remove the factory steering stops from the KE25 and use the ones from the RA60 Celica. You'll also need to go 14 inch or bigger rims with this brake upgrade too. 13's wont fit unfortunately. Quote
born_rolla Posted October 6, 2006 Report Posted October 6, 2006 (edited) Ae92 shocks do fit i would'nt cut its the full 40mm maybe 20mm and using a 20mm spacer. You've seen how high my car is and thats at its MAX hight it can only go lower from where it is and my car is pretty slammed sitting a very ruff 100mm from the sillpan. go xt130 LCA for camber :2thumbs: Edited October 6, 2006 by born_rolla Quote
Raven Posted October 6, 2006 Author Report Posted October 6, 2006 (edited) I'll dial in negative camber via the strut tops i'll be getting off Superjamie. Rather do it once and do it properly :2thumbs: Edited October 6, 2006 by Raven Quote
Raven Posted October 22, 2006 Author Report Posted October 22, 2006 A little update. I finally got a few more bits n pieces off reCOUPErator, so I put the original seat belt back in today. I got sick of that aftermarket belt that kept on loosening itself off. Was a pain in the arse! Next weekend, I'm going to get stuck in my 3k/4k s/c hybrid motor. I'll go get a head gasket and put the 4K head on the 3K block. Next then it will be a 4K aircon crank pulley to drive the supercharger (providing I can find one) and an SC12, then piping work, cut and reweld the supercharger pipes to get the right angle and making something to mount it to the block. Still deciding on what carb i should use as i wanna push this thing up to 10psi. So there you have it. Also gotta get the coil-over sleeve kit for my struts at some point too, which i should be able to do next weekend as well. Cheers Mick Quote
Raven Posted October 28, 2006 Author Report Posted October 28, 2006 and as always, something holds me up..... grrr. Quote
Raven Posted October 28, 2006 Author Report Posted October 28, 2006 Ok, so while the panel van gave me the shits, i took my car to a family friends shed today to get the rust attacked. Welded in a plate into the bonnet and fibreglassed over it, also did that to the front A pillars and just inside the passenger door. Also prepped and sanded back my grille, headlight surrounds, front plastic guard mouldings next to the headlights lower grill trim and then painted it all. I don't have a digi-cam, so I can't show you all how its going, but its definately looking awesome. More updates as it goes on.... so stay tuned. Quote
Raven Posted November 4, 2006 Author Report Posted November 4, 2006 (edited) w00t! Decided to borrow a digi-cam to show you people what I've been upto. The rust was getting worse with the car. So here is the half completed rust removal pics. I still have to get the roof done, a couple of spots next to the boot seal are coming through, the sill panels and a little in the rear quarters plus the guards along the bottom and the doors as well. Then it'll be time to save for my paint job while I'm building my motor for it. Front of the car and bonnet repairs (close up) R/h side 'A' pillar and cowling repairs (cowling had dents in it on both sides) Edited November 4, 2006 by Raven Quote
Raven Posted November 4, 2006 Author Report Posted November 4, 2006 L/H Side 'A' PIllar and cowling and inside of L/H door. Inside of R/H door. Quote
