muller Posted August 15, 2006 Report Posted August 15, 2006 flares and a 4age will be a nice start. Id be happy with even that. Quote
Raven Posted August 18, 2006 Author Report Posted August 18, 2006 I got the car back from being repaired today and he did a bloody good job! He also knocked the dent out of my floor behind the passenger seat AND fixed the massive hole I had under the battery tray AND rust protected my radiator support which was in good nick to begin with anyway. Raven Posted August 19, 2006 Author Report Posted August 19, 2006 Also got a K50 Gearbox for it. Just gotta go pick it up :( Quote
Medicine_Man Posted August 19, 2006 Report Posted August 19, 2006 Good to see it coming along :jamie: Needs a few more cans of black under there though :( Quote
muller Posted August 19, 2006 Report Posted August 19, 2006 Thats pretty good of him, did you actually ask him to do the extra repairs? Quote
Raven Posted August 22, 2006 Author Report Posted August 22, 2006 (edited) Yes I asked him to do the extra repairs and he didnt charge me any extra. He even rewelded my exhaust on my panel van for nothing :) For those of you who have read the KE rolla discussion thread about flare kits, I found out a mate of mine who I work with actually has fibreglass replica's of the TE27 flares that he smuggled back from a wreck he found in Japan, so after work today we stuffed around a bit and took some photos. For your enjoyment, we used an empty Red Bull can to gauge exactly how much more width you would gain with the flares on the front and rear using 12 inch rims on a KE20/25 with about a rim width of 5 inches. Raven Posted August 25, 2006 Author Report Posted August 25, 2006 (edited) Some more mods. I decided that I didnt like the mirrors very much as they had been attached incorrectly and i couldnt see shit outta them, so I upgraded to these: I'm getting the holes welded, grinded and primer applied tomorrow, so it should be sweet once its done. muller Posted August 25, 2006 Report Posted August 25, 2006 Mirrors are a nice touch. The flairs will look great. Just thinking....are you putting them there just for the look or are you going to put some decent rubber under them? Because 8" will fit under there already. Quote
Raven Posted August 26, 2006 Author Report Posted August 26, 2006 (edited) Decent rubber ;) and some nice dish on the rear and a little dish on the front :y: Edited August 26, 2006 by Raven Quote
Raven Posted August 27, 2006 Author Report Posted August 27, 2006 I had the holes welded, ground flat and undercoat applied yesterday: Here's the progress so far: I also picked up a RH door seal in excellent condition for 2 bucks from SA's biggest self-serve wrecker today as well. Bargain! Quote
reCOUPErator Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 (edited) its all looking good mick, i miss it oohh and don't forget the rust on the left hand panel behind the guard, the dents in the bonnet are mainly from where i removed the badges! heres a couple more pics from when i did the bodywork 1st time: Before spray rear: before spray side: rust spot mick has to fix! reCOUPErator Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 (edited) ooh incase youre wondering, the reason i didn do it all properlly in the first place was cos i wasn really interested in the car until it was finished and knew how sought after they were! um yeah so hence the bog, ill look for some more good pics i had! ooh the boot when i had it!: Edited August 30, 2006 by reCOUPErator Quote
Raven Posted August 31, 2006 Author Report Posted August 31, 2006 More money to throw into the car. Idler Arm needs replacing, l/h outer tie-rod end is worn and the wheel bearings are loose and on top of that it needs a wheel alignment. The Idler Arm alone is worth $100. So i'm getting it all sorted out next Tuesday and hopefully I'll be able to turn better :D Quote
