Budowski Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 AE71's are cool. i just picked another one up last night for a total of five. :y: two wags for recking, and three sedans for thrashing ;) -dave hehe i got two sedans already :D Quote
Budowski Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 we can have a bbq and sand car back day :D just to reduce the cost when the panel beaters do the final work ? sanding back and fixing dents/rust in my ke25 by myself was a real chore took me over 6 months to prep the body. Quote
Raven Posted February 19, 2009 Author Report Posted February 19, 2009 (edited) This thing is going to get started on in the next few weeks. Probably start on it in March. Since the Magna is all fixed and the Red KE25 is sold, I can start to slowly put money into this one and get it sorted out :D Edited February 19, 2009 by Raven Quote
Raven Posted April 10, 2009 Author Report Posted April 10, 2009 All my debts are now paid off, which means that this thing is gonna get soda-blasted within the next month. Just gotta strip out the front and rear suspension and steering parts and get it on a trailer. Quote

Raven Posted April 10, 2009 Author Report Posted April 10, 2009 (edited) Havent had it quoted yet. Gotta get the rest of the car stripped down, make up a rolling frame and get it on a trailer and take it around to a few places. I'm hoping it wont be anymore than $500. Raven Posted May 2, 2009 Author Report Posted May 2, 2009 (edited) Not yet. Waiting on my K.Rudd payment, not to mention I have to have it stripped down first. Started on that today actually, here's my progress so far.... Firstly, I started with removing the front left strut assembly, which came out relatively easy. As you can see here, this one took me about 20-30 minutes to remove at a snails pace. The front right on the other hand was a complete bitch to get out. I tried heating it, bashing it with a hammer and nothing. In the end, it got so badly damaged (it was a rooted original tie rod end anyway) I had to go and purchase a ball joint/tie rod seperator and seperate it from the main drag link, which worked a treat. So progress today after about 4 hours was both front struts removed and placed in the back shed. Edited May 2, 2009 by Raven Quote
Murd 55 Posted May 2, 2009 Report Posted May 2, 2009 he also fixed my 55  had some carby and some timing issues and now the 55 is running much nicer! Quote
greenmac80 Posted May 3, 2009 Report Posted May 3, 2009 good work.. gotta hate old steering parts i had heaps of trouble with mine as well. did you consider dropping the struts steering and x member all in one? then working on em? might have been easier. Quote
Raven Posted May 3, 2009 Author Report Posted May 3, 2009 (edited) Unfortunately, I didnt have the room to do that, so I had to persist with pulling it all out pice by piece. Edited May 3, 2009 by Raven Quote
greenmac80 Posted May 3, 2009 Report Posted May 3, 2009 hmmm spewin. bearing puller work well for getting tierods out. jst a thought for future if you had one i mean. are you going to get your steering box recoed? Quote

I bought a ball joint/tie rod seperator in the end which works similar to a pulley remover, except it pushes, not pulls, and that got it out. Definitely going to get the steering box recoed and will see if i can up the ratio in it as well :) Quote
greenmac80 Posted May 3, 2009 Report Posted May 3, 2009 wicked well for your steering box i'd recommend DRW automatics at lonsdale! great guy there and quite cheap. got mine done there. try him out! the dude builds 1000hp drag cars quite nice shop and very willing to try out custom things for you.
