tenyearguarantee Posted July 21, 2008 Report Posted July 21, 2008 yeh, those konis! still hurts deep down that i didnt win that auction. I still think you should give them to me Quote
mattress Posted July 22, 2008 Author Report Posted July 22, 2008 Yeah the gym was big bucks. It cost my brother about $5000. He doesn't have the room for it at his current rental so i get to use it for the time being. Sorry about that 10year but i needed them. I won them on ebay untubbed_20, they were new old stock... mattress Posted January 9, 2009 Author Report Posted January 9, 2009 Small update. I had a look at my first post and can't believe i've had this car about two and a half years. I've been doing small amounts on the car here and there but still no real progress. Engine and box are out, as is just about everything else. A little more work on getting the paint off and i should be about ready to talk to some panel beaters. I talked to a panel beater mate i went to school with today. He has he own little setup and specialises in old car work. I realise panel work is expensive but i got a shock at the sight unseen quote of 8K without paint. Quote
hush316 Posted January 9, 2009 Report Posted January 9, 2009 Man i know how you feel i had a panel beater pretty much quote the same but i have found that if you look around you will find someone good and reasonably priced as well also was wondering where you scored those tail lights from? Quote
warrenfromtonny Posted January 9, 2009 Report Posted January 9, 2009 nice rig man, got myself a ke11. what engin mods you doing? staying k series or trading teams? good luck and let me know if you find any tricks out i need to know cheers matt Quote
mattress Posted January 9, 2009 Author Report Posted January 9, 2009 Hush316: Yeah i'll do a little bit of searching and get a few quotes. Considering the car is 'quite straight' with rust in front of the rear wheels and front guards i think it's a little over the top. The tail lights i scored off ebay. They pop up every now and again. Be prepared to pay through the nose for them though. Wareenfromtonny: Sounds good mate, throw a topic up in readers rides. At this stage i'm staying with the 4K that came in it, though with a sprinter twin carby setup and a cam. Quote
mattress Posted September 13, 2009 Author Report Posted September 13, 2009 Progress is slow, painfully slow. Car was blasted and etch primed on the weekend ready to be delivered to the panel beater. Quote
mattress Posted October 16, 2009 Author Report Posted October 16, 2009 Car has officially hit the panel beater. The quote from this buisness was much less than the quote i got from elsewhere. He does excellent work and is very very thorough. Now i just have to wait. Perhaps it's time to start rebuilding my K-B twin carbs and ready some other gear. The carbs scare me a bit though... Quote
67Rolla-Ken Posted October 16, 2009 Report Posted October 16, 2009 (edited) Sound like a plan :jamie: With the carbies, I had someone help me. Was rather easy to overhaul once I had sourced the correct kit off Ebay (fluked that perfectly). We just opened the thing up carefully and replaced 1 thing at a time (springs, balls, needles etc), working our way around the thing until every bit was replaced. mattress Posted September 7, 2010 Author Report Posted September 7, 2010 Looks like i have another SL steering wheel on the way. Once I've viewed my new acquisition and decided which one to keep one will be up for sale if anyone is keen. The car was returned to me after sitting at the panel beaters for a month and having only the roof done. With a lot of other shit going on at the moment the car has been sitting for about 10 months waiting for another panel beater. One day... Quote
Des Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 I may be interested pending price and condition. How did you go with the carbies ? Quote
mattress Posted September 7, 2010 Author Report Posted September 7, 2010 The wheel wasn't cheap, bearing in mind i have seen an SL wheel go for $500 on ebay with a cracked rim and no horn button. The freight to get it here is the real killer. Anyway I'll keep this updated when it arrives. As for the carbs, haven't looked at them. Will really have to get motivated one day and start doing something on the car. Quote
parrot Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 I wondered who had got that wheel. A good pickup, as you say they don't come along often. Bummer about the paint. A story you hear far too often with panel beaters. Quote
