mikeys toy[RL] Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 let me exonerate myself by saying that i have had MANY beers tonite; that said; i first found my first corolla by cruising around on my '77 puch maxi sport moped and found this awesome cute little ke17 just sitting there rotting no rust, no dents, and bad original paint. it was parked right after a full rebuild because the owner had a company car to drive. $25 usd i got her started after sittting 10 YEARS!! and drove her home. she would overheat if i drove her on the highway (50mph+) then i traded her for a '66 dodge polara police car because i was a 15 year old moron and i always regretted it. then i found daisy and bugged the old guy for 9 YEARS to sell her to me finally he did for $1usd. many mods later; Quote
Taz_Rx Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 Why i love toyotas....well i don't know any other engine besides a 4ac that can have the shit thrashed outta it, no oil or water top ups no services..... and it stil runs almost as good as the day it was put in the showroom.Cheap reliable parts are SOOOO easy to get for most models. have so much potential. I do...........a k serie engine!!! All toyota engine have always been soooo damn reliable and near unbreakable (well maybe excepting a 7mgte :) ) and as mentioned above so easy to mod and so damn easy to find parts for cheaply. I think 70% of australian rotary owners nearly have a toyota as a second car!! :jamie: :jamie: Quote
speedway_rolla Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 Why do I love my rolla? Its smooth, sexy shape and the ability to have the shit absolutly thrashed out of them and STILL run like a dream. You tell me a car that is all of the above and i'll show you a fast datsun :) Quote
st.nick Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 Easy to work on... Easy to drive... Bucket-load of fun to drive hard... Easy to mod, with so many interchangable parts from bigger siblings (ie Celica/ Corona)... KE30 2dr sedan is one of the nicest looking 70's cars ever!! Big, but not too big, small but not too small... ...and COZ THEY AREN'T A f@$kING GEMINI!!! :) Current perchant is KE36s coz they are quirky little wagons, but still have the sporty element (kinda like a 2dr Range Rover) Quote
Mr Hardware Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 Why do i like toyotas/corollas? I don't like anything in particular except: K MOTOR RELIABILITY If the K motor was made shit (ie mitsubishi style) this site would not exitst. Quote
JiP Posted August 1, 2006 Author Report Posted August 1, 2006 Tru that, have you ever heard of "cultclub" "sigmaclub" "nimbusclub" No. Quote
ancullen Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 Cultclub? Wouldn't it be Cultcult? I think you might mean Coltclub. Although if ever I lose my mind I think Coltcult would be a cool group to start. :lock_folder: Quote
JiP Posted August 1, 2006 Author Report Posted August 1, 2006 Too bad its a car plagued (However Its Spelt) with problems. Quote
ancullen Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 That's why I'd have to be crazy to want to own one, let alone start a car club for them. Quote
Raven Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 Thats why they're called a Bitsashitty Colt and a Bitsashitty Magna :lock_folder: Quote
ancullen Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 (edited) Hey, I used to own a Mitsubishi Galant :lock_folder: - and Bitsashitty is pretty damn accurate. :lock: Edited August 1, 2006 by ancullen Quote
lappy Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 (edited) I love the corollas because cheap parts motors are pretty much bullet proof your allowed to race them as a junior sedan and they have good fuel economy for the road and like gavclassic said you can put a motor out of a car made in the year 2000 in them. Mr Hardware Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 awesome fuel economy for the road When 10 year old 1.8L Hyundai Lantra's can do 9L/100klms, i wouldn't be saying that 10L/100klms is good for a gutless 1.3L if it was 7L/100klms THEN i'd be saying awesome. ps not promoting hyundai's, just stating fact. But back to the main Q: I would doubt anyone here doesn't own a Toyota for the reliability as at least part of the reason. Quote
lappy Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 good fuel economy for the road changed then Quote
