JiP Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 Hey guys, just wondering what everyone loves about Toyotas. I never really thought much about them and even when I got my car, its was only cause it was free and that it was a 70's car. The longer I have it, the more i grow to love it. And what i'm loving ther most is that when i go to the wreckers, i can go through any Toyota from that period to get parts. Like, need chrome door handles for your KE30?? There are several modles of Corona's that have the same handles. Same as if i need a interior dimister switch or door sensors. Also i want to get myself a rear view mirror with a deflector. I pulled one out of a KE70 and tested it at the wreckers on a KE55. BINGO, fits. I've previously pulled a boot release out of a KE70 too and modified it to fit my KE30. :lolcry: Next will be the handbrake console from a KE70, i tested one from the wreckers today and looks like it will fit, just need to find a good one. Also today i pulled a Glovebox lock + key off a Cressida. It doesn't fit the Corolla so i'm gonna go back and get the whole lid so i can have the inner skin. I'll see how that goes. Anyways, enough rambling, what does everyone else LOVE about Toyota's?? Quote
Dan Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 I love toyota's because they are cheap, reliable and easy to find parts for. Not to mention the 'copycat cars' like the KE35 coupe and TA23 celica that look like scale versions of legendary aussie and american cars. That said - Classic not plastic :lolcry: Quote
Raven Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 (edited) I like the fact that I modded an RT81 corona indicator stalk and assembly to fit my KE25. The only difference? The small plug has to be swapped from the KE2x indicator assembly to the RT81 one as the RT81 as two male connectors where the KE2x one has a male and a female connector. Gavclassic Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 I have a passion for all old Japanese cars but especially Toyota Corolla's. The ease of part replacement from newer models to older models, Eg 2000 model Townace 7K bolt straight into a 68 KE 10. Tell me another car manufacturer that has used basically the same motor for 33years? Basically if its got the same engine code it'll bolt straight in. :) Quote
Nitephyre Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 must be tight in a sedan... now, panelvans.... :) Quote
billygoat Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 I don't really love the corolla but I do enjoy the fact that its heaps cheaper to modify than my civic. Quote
JiP Posted July 29, 2006 Author Report Posted July 29, 2006 (edited) Today I also saw a nice TE72 (T-18) at the wreckers. If i had a KE70, i'd attach the T-18's chrome bumpers assuming that they fit. But then again, i guess i'd rather a T-18 instead. Edited July 29, 2006 by JiP_01 Quote
irokin Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 Gets me to work and back home again. Nissans do too....just faster :) Quote
Corolla_Gurl Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 Why i love toyotas....well i don't know any other engine besides a 4ac that can have the shit thrashed outta it, no oil or water top ups no services..... and it stil runs almost as good as the day it was put in the showroom. Cheap reliable parts are SOOOO easy to get for most models. have so much potential. Quote
Fat Bastard Customs Posted July 30, 2006 Report Posted July 30, 2006 Cheap to buy (mostly), cheap to modify, easy to work on, easy to get parts for, cheap to run, tough as nails, look kinda cool... Also, when modified, there is nothing more satisfying than kickin the crap out of something newer, apparently more advanced, and worth a crapload more in my multicoloured, toyota grannies car :) Quote
Des Posted July 30, 2006 Report Posted July 30, 2006 like Fat Bastard Customs said beating newer cars. i got my rolla cause it was cheap and my only choice at the time and it was a good choice. :) Quote
Dan Posted July 30, 2006 Report Posted July 30, 2006 I got into Corollas because I had been looking for six months everywhere for a Datsun Sunny, and couldn't find one this side of $350.. that was nearly a year and a half ago, I didn't have a job and 350 bucks was a damned lot of money to me.... Fast forward the six months, I gave up and started looking at Corollas, within a month of looking for one I had two, one bought for a bottle of bourbon and the other was kindly given to me by a member on these forums and toymods... Quickly I saw the potential of the little cars, the simplicity and damn, the reliablility of the things amazes me to no end... So basically, cheap thrills.. Anyway, end rant. Most people have heard that before no doubt. Quote
