Beau-Jangles Posted July 28, 2006 Report Posted July 28, 2006 Hey, my mate has just recently bought a Ke30 auto :lolcry: as a daily and wants to know how much it will cost to get a manual gearbox, transmission etc put in. The engine is a 1.3 which i'm not sure what it's name is (3k or 4k). We r in the adelaide area an were wondering if anyone can help us out with parts or even recomend where to go for a good deal etc. any help would be appreciated. cheers Quote
Rolla__Boy Posted July 28, 2006 Report Posted July 28, 2006 Getting a shop to do it will be expensive because of the amount of time it takes to swap everything over. It's not that difficult, you should try it yourselves Quote
irokin Posted July 28, 2006 Report Posted July 28, 2006 We did my KE70 auto -> 5spd for a touch over $400. Teddy came over and gave me a helped and without a couple of hiccups we would have had it done that day. That said Teddy knows KE70s inside out so it might take longer if you don't know the car so well. Quote
Rolla__Boy Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 haha you guys are slow. Me and my mate did his KE35 in 4 hours start to finish, and it cost the price of gearbox oil :lolcry: Quote
Dan Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 If you can't do it yourselves, go out and buy a manual KE30. If the auto is in great nick swap the parts and sell the auto car, end up with a manual one. Simple :lolcry: Quote
Beau-Jangles Posted July 29, 2006 Author Report Posted July 29, 2006 cheers guys. anyone know the price of a ke30 manual box? Quote

irokin Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 total: $265 + my labour its cheaper just to buy an average manual KE30 lol that'd be a pretty damn average (read: shitbucket) KE30. Quote
Robert Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 I paid $200 for a steering wheel and an extra $50 for the KE55 it was attached to :) Quote
nisskid Posted July 30, 2006 Report Posted July 30, 2006 hey, I'm the guy with the KE30. anyone know where there is a write up on the conversion, like a step by step guide? or anyone wanna do it for me for a reasonable charge as i have nfi about these cars. Quote
Dan Posted July 30, 2006 Report Posted July 30, 2006 Is that your Cefiro in your sig? Anyway, back on topic, you'd be surprised what you can get for 300 bucks in terms of Corollas... Worth f@$k all, best thing about 'em. Quote
nisskid Posted July 30, 2006 Report Posted July 30, 2006 yeh true, all this car is for is a daily driver. but like all vehicles i have i get a feeling to modify or do-up in some way. its in awsome condition, the interior is perfect except for the drivers seat, and the exterior is in fairly good nic with a few chips and rust. for $900 i thought it was a good buy even thou it is auto. i probs could have got a better deal if i shopped around a bit but i needed it soon. so yeh, i wouldnt mind putting a manual box in it as right now its so gutless with the auto box, and its nowhere near as fun. oh and the car is a R32 Gts-t Skyline, and its off the road at the moment, which is why i got the rolla :) Quote
Dan Posted July 30, 2006 Report Posted July 30, 2006 Sounds like an alright deal on the rolla then, I guess. Oh and haha, thought that four door skylines were cefiros, my bad.. only a dirty nee-sarn anyway :) Dan. Quote
nisskid Posted July 30, 2006 Report Posted July 30, 2006 lol, i tried to get a datsun, but they wanted so much more for them even if they were similar models to the KE30. i guess its the price u pay for quality :) and i have had other people think 4dr skylines are cefiros, but really skylines are just the Jap version of our commodore, the sedan models are the base for the skyline, and the coupe models we see in Aus are the sports coupe models like the HSV GTS coupe for instance. my model is like the ss, sports sedan, same performance as the coupe, just with another door.
