LINDSAY Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 do not put high pressure through the carby lines! either get proper fuel lines made up, or use high pressure efi rubber lines. id go withthe proper metal ones all this is covered on the internet in a few different write ups by the way so even the metal fuel lines have to be replace for high pressure ones , i would have thought they'de good for at least 100 psi , cause i have just finished setting up the fuel system in my boot and i thought only the rubber lines needed to be replaced by high pressure ones . where do ya get high pressure metal fuel lines from anyway ? or would braided line be allright to run under the car ? heres a pic of mine Too quick Quote
love ke70 Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 no no, the metal ones would be fine I'm quite sure. i was saying go to either: high pressure lines or metal lines steel braided would be good, but exxy Quote
Des Posted December 4, 2006 Author Report Posted December 4, 2006 Didnt think about the engine bay, Do the pumps need to be close to the surge tank to work effectively ? Quote
love ke70 Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 which pump do you speak ok? i see no reason why the lifter couldnt pump fuel thru to the engine bay. Quote
Jason Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 hay thats not a bad idear! I'm goning to look into this tomoro, becuse atm my fuel lines are kinked and need to redo my setup any way.... ill get back to yous. Quote
Jason Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 has any one got any pics if any ones done it before? Ive got a pretty good idear were to mount it. Quote
Des Posted December 4, 2006 Author Report Posted December 4, 2006 (edited) Ive got a few car dvd's here and they have it square and mounted to the fire wall on the passengers side but thats a fwd crx. Edited December 4, 2006 by too quick Quote
Jason Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 just went down with a measuring tape, there not a lot of room to play with, passenger sides out becuse of the exhust. I'm gona see what i can do tmoz Quote
camerondownunder88 Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 With a tank being in the engine bay the lift pump will get fuel there BUT.... It will take a while to initally prime. When you key flicks the ignition ont eh car the high pressure pump starts and lift pump. So the added delay in fuel getting to the main pump could fry it faster. I would have the lift pump close to the main pump but lifter has to be in main tank so.... Unless you can fit a 555 time circuit so the lift pump comes on the say 5 seconds later the main pump comes on thus fuel should be at the main pump and reduce wear. Cameron Quote
Jason Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 ummm there will still be fuel in the surge tank.... Quote
camerondownunder88 Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 But ont he high pressure pump if it picks fuel up from the ottom wont the fuel run pass the pump anyway just get through it and crap? I But if I think about it to even if fuel gets seeps throught eh vanes in the pump into the fuel rail the rail has the pressure reg on one end so it will hold the fuel there so...but I woudl still like a timer to make the car more spiffy adn just to have it..lol As a 555timer circuit piss easy to do for any application.. Cameron Quote
Jason Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 if it seeps through the pump its only going to the fuel rail..... theres really no need for a timer circut as easy as they are. Quote
love ke70 Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 (edited) i want you all to put timers in, so that there are more wires and more things to go wrong :) Edited December 4, 2006 by love ke70 Quote
Des Posted December 6, 2006 Author Report Posted December 6, 2006 (edited) Can the lift pump be mounted in the surge tank instead of the fuel tank ? EDIT: i think i will just mount the surge tank in the boot in the spare tire well for now. Edited December 6, 2006 by too quick Quote
