My guess is you've been driving like a twat past his house and hes sick of it (rightly so). So either start driving like normal people do, or get your exhaust changed so it doesnt annoy him because otherwise you could be in for much worse things. Consider the fact that he probably COULD have defected you for other things and I think you'll find hes being pretty reasonable. Hell if someone was driving past my house like an idiot and I was a cop, I wouldnt heistate to figure out which one it is and pull them over the first chance I get. Just cop it sweet or you'll end up in more strife later. I have never fuked around in my back streets its stupid. I have only been driving for 23 days in the rolla. And driven past his house maybe 6 times wow. I always turned down my music when i enter my surburb after reading the antitheft notice on this forum. I have done nothing to provoke this guy. This guy was just trying to bully me and threatin me, thinking i know nothing. But i do now thanks to you guys. My car might be noisy as teddy's or ryans from the rolla club. SO is this loud????? He also seems to be the only one making complaints, the people next door to me don't care and there bloody old church goers I am thinking about changing it but if this guy is just trying to bully me into it without proof its the principle i guess why i am so cut. The only reall thing he said to me was its to loud and state your name, Reall nice bloke aye. I didnt give him any cheek or rudeness. THanks guys for you suggestions :lolcry:

I'm not sure if they do but someones gotta be able to do it if not a mechanic. Once with the proof, if he ties to fine you without his hearing aid turned on, show him you had it tested and its fine. **EDIT** If its not illigal, i don't see why you should have to change it. Its shit and makes lots and lots of noise for nothing, although its carbon fibre wrapped so it looks cool. Ive been looking for a silencer for a while and can't seem to find one so where the best place to look. An exhaust shop or autobarn or somewhere like that.

You didnt get fined and you probably wont so long as you don't act like a twat. He doesnt have it in for you but this most certainly is personal. Build a bridge and get over it. Bitching about it isnt gonna help anything. Both my father and grandfather were officers and Ive grown up around alot of their colleagues so I have a very good insight into their world and know about what makes them tick. Maybe you inadvertantly did something to piss him off, or perhaps hes just trying to stop it before it even starts. Someone must have pissed him off enough because they don't just hang around their own houses in highway patrol cars....

Anyway, his bike wouldn't start again for them to test it, so while everyone else was getting noise checked he couldn't as it didn't start again. So he loads it on the trailer, when he stops for the night he gets it running again etc and its all non-fined happy days. Jump forward another month and hes got a letter from the EPA saying that his bike didn't pass the noise test, he rings them up, tells them what the go is with the bike (circumstances surrounding noise inspection) and their reply was simply; "Oh, there seems to have been a bungle here about this, you didn't actually get tested". Just wanted another modified vehicle off the road. Pricks. Anyway, see if you can fight it, if you can't fight it easily at the start it ain't gunna get any easier; don't be a tightarse, get a stock exhaust put in (or put it in yourself)| And yes. I've made the mistake of f@$king around making noise in my own home and street and let me say, it is not something I'll do again. The ripple effect is f@$ked, simply from a mate tuning his very loud corolla, a loud HK and a burnout in my front yard. Its caused me no end of problems.. so yeah, my advice is.. Don't shit in your own street. Dan.

pozman Posted July 28, 2006 Report Posted July 28, 2006 just take it to a roadworthy acredited exhaust shop, they can test it, if it s legal you can keep it if ain't fix it. you can always clutch in as you go past his place, my pulsar is like 5 db over the limit and have never had a complaint, and i don't exactly cuise around. you'll find the rpm's are different for some cars, me pulsar is at 4000rpm.

dysolve Posted July 28, 2006 Report Posted July 28, 2006 My mate had a JL GTR XU1 torana a few years ago but he had the exhuast modified so it did not look like it had one (he hated the look of his polished chrome drop tank being covered but a dirty old exhuast) anyways a cop pulled us over at 3am one sunday morning and gave him a defect notice stating his car did not have a exhuast at all. all the cop had to do was look up under neath the rear chrome bumper bar to see it.. the cop also tried to tell us that the car was heavly modified and he would need the engine mounts checked and a letter writen up and sent to the RTA.. the funny thing about all this is the car was stock it even had the original 13" rims on it LOL.. The only mod's that where done was the drop tank , exhuast shortened by 20cm and rebent. it did not even have a radio in it...( the JL GTR XU1 did not come with a radio LOL). When we took the car to the rego office the inspector read all the stuff the cop had writen down and then he opened the bonnet saw the engine with a exhuast attached and sent us on our way. it did cost my mate $19 for the inspection and that was it.. the rego inspector even had to ask my mate what was wrong with the engine mounts as he could see nothing wrong.

I agree with this.. i am going to do the same with my '20 when the 1G goes in ... i don't see what the big point is with a all the pop corn machines getting around
Fayt Posted July 28, 2006 Report Posted July 28, 2006 if a car has a high performance/sports exhaust, then its gonna make a noise, simple, if you don't like the amount of noise it makes, do what I did and get a baffle silencer, you still get the performance and you have not as much db noise coming out, that said I'm only 3db under the legal limit :lolcry:
