Rolla Newbie Posted July 27, 2006 Report Posted July 27, 2006 Recently bought a wee beastie, bog standard KE70. Run like a dream but now if I point it up a hill it dies. Turns over great but no go. Sometimes if I roll and jump start it fine but then sometimes putters out. Other times it roars and off we go for a while. Other times it just clickes and no turn over which I guess is a dodgy solenoid in the starter. Am going to replace plugs, leads and coil. Also fuel pump pressure is ok. My mech tells me there was a hassle with the tank uptake blocking but it seems ok. Help! Carby? Needle and float? Smelly. :lolcry: Quote
lappy Posted July 27, 2006 Report Posted July 27, 2006 sounds like a fuel problems to me have you tried replacing the fuel filter? Quote
Dan Posted July 27, 2006 Report Posted July 27, 2006 Tryed clearing it out a bit (ie: revving it up a fair bit)? Could be a bit of gunk in the carby.. Take a spark plug out and have a look at it. Could be as simple as the plugs.. I also experience the same problem with my starter motor. Sometimes it starts, other times it will just sit there and make the clicking noise (its in my KE55). However, I get the feeling that this might have something to do with the fact that my entire electrical system is exposed to the weather, inside and out :lolcry: Quote
lappy Posted July 27, 2006 Report Posted July 27, 2006 also you could try some carby cleaner that works pretty well Quote
FJMatt Posted July 28, 2006 Report Posted July 28, 2006 I had a similer problem the car would idle but it wouldn't accelerate. The problem was with the carbi. It got a bit of shit in there and started causing some problems. i used carbi cleaner that helped but the air comppresor got everything out of it including some fuel (watch out). But no problem since. Quote
coln72 Posted July 28, 2006 Report Posted July 28, 2006 Old school remedy 1. take air cleaner off 2. swap number 2 & 3 plug leads 3. hold foot flat and start car It will then back fire up through the carby generally moving whatever shit is in the way. Please take aricleaner off as engine fires are a bitch. Quote
coln72 Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 An A grade mechanic showed me how to do that one........ Quote
Rolla Newbie Posted August 2, 2006 Author Report Posted August 2, 2006 Did most of the above, new filter, coil, leads and dizzy cap. Used carby cleaner. Then....... blew out the return line and the fuel line with compressed air. A lot of restriction on both. Been running fine since! But I like the swap leads over option. Might do that one to impress the kids! Thanks to all. Paul Quote
