Super Jamie Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 OK... you blow bucks under the bonnet no. we blow bucks under the bonnet. they blow bucks on bodykits and subwoofers and mags and a 4" fart pipe Quote
Redwarf Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 Guys, that was a picture of the front disks I put up. It has Hi-lux drums on the rear. Go figure Quote
Jason Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 theres no requirement's to upgrade brakes for engine conversions  Quote
demuire Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 jason: I think there is actually. I'm not sure what exactly it is though, I think it goes something along the lines that the brakes have to be equivalent if not better than the original brakes from the original car (that the engine came out of). Or something like that. Quote
Tiger Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 theres no requirement's to upgrade brakes for engine conversions  No requirement? Yes.... but a good idea? YES! But that's my personal opinion... Quote
Jason Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 (edited) thats what i though until i spoke to the engineer, Robin something. Also said we can run rubber fuel lines the whole way? Â PS i am doing brake upgrades anyway. Shuddereds at the though of stock ke70 brakes. Edited June 24, 2005 by Jason Quote
demuire Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 Jason: no i don't think you can use rubber fuel lines all the way. I guess it depends on what your engineer says, if he says you can then it's your call... I wouldn't. Quote
Jason Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 I wasn't planning to. Teddys got me a name for on site Auto Hoses  thanks teddy Quote
Super Jamie Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 theres no requirement's to upgrade brakes for engine conversions  well... that's all subjective to your engineer. personally, if i found someone who would allow ANY better-than-K engine into a corolla with stock brakes, i wouldn't want them engineering my car. any turbo motor with stock KExx brakes is a death wish  there's also a clause in the ADRs that specifies that, even with the original engine, if you sufficiently upgrade the power output of a vehicle, you are supposed to sufficiently upgrade the safety systems (ie: brakes, seatbelts, etc) of the vehicle as well  realistically, i don't think stock corolla brakes stop a stock corolla well enough, never mind one with a warm 4k like mine, or a big power motor like rob's or doug's. after having one full braking run in fook's ae35, you realise just how pathetic a single piston, 218mm solid rotor brake really is 1 Quote

Super Jamie Posted June 25, 2005 Report Posted June 25, 2005 so much so that i won't be registering the car with stock brakes, even if it's got a stock 3k in it. cars that stop quicker than they accelerate are cool :P Quote
boxy Posted June 25, 2005 Report Posted June 25, 2005 i was planning on the same engine conversion on the same sort of car and no matter what any one says it'll be a beast on the straights Quote
Rolla Ken Posted March 30, 2018 Report Posted March 30, 2018 has anyone thought that maybe he has no idea on what to do about increasing his brake size etc within the law required... its not as easy as everyone would think... still thou its an amazing looking car... that's my 2 cents worth... p.s. if anyone wants to upgrade ur brakes i have a seriously decentset up... hit me up guys cheers Quote
