madrolla68 Posted November 11, 2006 Author Report Posted November 11, 2006 ok cool thanks, so apart from modifying 4K mounts, it bolts straight in? onto a standard K series gearbox? Yes that is right, bolt pattern for the bellhousing is the same . Quote
rjenman Posted November 21, 2006 Report Posted November 21, 2006 would anyone know if i'd be incorrect in assuming that i wouldn't have to modify the sump in putting the engine in a KE70? Quote
78_7kRolla Posted November 23, 2006 Report Posted November 23, 2006 I'm pretty sure that to fit a 7k in place where any other k-series motor once was, you HAVE TO modify the sump (cut and weld). Dad and i cut the 7K sump and then welded it back together. There are some other mods we did as well but i can't remember, so i will have to get back to you on that one. By the way, my car is a ke30 with a ke55 5 speed. Matt Quote
rjenman Posted November 23, 2006 Report Posted November 23, 2006 thanks man, and yeah if you do manage to find out what other mods you had to do, I would love to hear about it :jamie: is there any chance someone would be able to share what exactly they did to standard 4K engine mounts to fit a 7K into a Corolla? The engine mounts will need to be made smaller if thats the right way to put it, the block is wider on the 7K so the distance from where they touch the blockto where they bolt to the car will need to be reduced. The sump MAY have to be modified, not sure how much room they have under the sump. Quote
rjenman Posted November 24, 2006 Report Posted November 24, 2006 yeah, if anyone has a digital camera, i would much appreciate photos of a modified 7K sump! Quote
78_7kRolla Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 Just to clear some things up, we didn't need to modify the oil pick up and as the actual block of the 7k is a smidge larger we add some washers on the engine mounts to get it sitting nice. I will also try to get pics of the sump for you. Quote
Boost+k Posted November 25, 2006 Report Posted November 25, 2006 7k block is wider???? so you can't interchange heads etc??? Quote

madrolla68 Posted November 26, 2006 Author Report Posted November 26, 2006 any in car piccies yet matt? Here ya go Si,finally some pics. Still gotta tidy it up a bit. Quote
madrolla68 Posted November 26, 2006 Author Report Posted November 26, 2006 (edited) oh ok, so you didnt actually modify the mounts, you just added washers? thats not so hard then I would say they added washers under where they bolt to the car to give them sump clearance. can't do that on a KE10,but could work on a KE35 upwards. 78_7kRolla Posted November 27, 2006 Report Posted November 27, 2006 I would say they added washers under where they bolt to the car to give them sump clearance. Yes we did do this for "extra" sump clearance as it already cleared but just. It was just to be safe lol. Quote
