ROLLLA Posted November 20, 2007 Author Report Posted November 20, 2007 ok so tell me where to get the non restrictive bell mouth, seeing as I'm using a series 2 VP motor? Quote
decoop Posted November 20, 2007 Report Posted November 20, 2007 You just take it out. You can clearly see the black bit of plastic between the plenum and the 90 degree bend, thats the face of the bellmouth. Where the 90 degree bend meets the plenum, there are 3 bolts to undo, undo them slide the throttle body and bend out of the way and pull the bellmouth out. Making sure you don't damage the gaskets either side of the bellmouth. then once you have it out, put it back together. Shouldn't take longer than 30 mins to do it. here are the top 2 you have to undo and there is one underneath. Quote
Des Posted November 20, 2007 Report Posted November 20, 2007 The bellmouth is there to even out air flow and help with rough idle, But meh i didnt notice the difference when i took mine out. Quote
ROLLLA Posted November 20, 2007 Author Report Posted November 20, 2007 well i took it out and gees it made a hell of a difference. Too much actually that the car broke out at 80km on the damp road and lost control done a 180 across 3 lanes and ended up hitting a gutter narrowly missing a concrete buss stop. the car came to rest in bushes. Miraculously there was only damage to the rear bar as it hit a little tree where it landed. The drivers axle needs replacing and ive stuffed the drivers steering arm i think. So so lucky i wasnt injured and definately wont be flooring it on a damp road ever again. Quote
decoop Posted November 20, 2007 Report Posted November 20, 2007 Woops, i shoulda kept my mouth shut. :D Quote
ROLLLA Posted November 21, 2007 Author Report Posted November 21, 2007 haha its ok decoop. Ye everyones fine. took me about half an hour to stop shaking tho. well just waiting for my friend and then were gonna get the car toed to mine and looks like a trip to pick a part is in order. hopefully i didnt f@$k any chassis at the front and hopefully this thing drives straight after Quote
Taz_Rx Posted November 21, 2007 Report Posted November 21, 2007 I hit a gutter drifting once with the back wheel sideways at about 50kmh. Band an axle, shattered the wheel bearing, and took a sizeable chunk out of the bead of the wheel. Hit the gutter so hard, my mates beany came off his head!! Noticed later that the whole diff had moved about 6 inches across and back into place in the accident. I know this as there was actually a dent in the trans tunnel were the diff had hit it!!!!!! :D Anyway, after a hit that big, with a new axle the car still drives straight, so I'll doubt you'll have to worry too much. :hmm: Quote
decoop Posted November 21, 2007 Report Posted November 21, 2007 Overpowered corollas + wet weather = Change of jocks! Hahahahaha. I hope it didnt do too much damage. How are your rims? Quote
ROLLLA Posted November 21, 2007 Author Report Posted November 21, 2007 the rims are fukt on the drivers side. simmonds at the front bent and the concept 5s snapped Quote
HEKTIC Posted November 22, 2007 Report Posted November 22, 2007 JiP_01 said: Got any pics?? +1 you should be able to get new outside bands for the simmons yeah? hope so anyways! Quote
ROLLLA Posted November 22, 2007 Author Report Posted November 22, 2007 ye should be able to get the outside dish but itll prob cost me more than i paid for all 4 rims. ill post pix of the rims tomorrow, bought a steering box today and it steers now. a mate had spare R31 axles so i slapped it in and the ass end is alright now. gotta get a wheel allignment and fingers crossed thats all it needs. decoop Posted November 22, 2007 Report Posted November 22, 2007 (edited) No more nailing it in the wet at speeds now. Not to pour salt in the wound, but you should get a holden v8 throttle body and bolt on now, slightly bigger. :D . A corvette piston in your auto will make it slam into second too!. I'll apologise in advance if this causes anymore damage. :hmm: Edited November 22, 2007 by decoop Quote
