towe001 Posted July 16, 2006 Report Posted July 16, 2006 Does it really need new rings ? Does it burn oil ? Low in compression ? Low oil pressure ? My thought would be that since your only planning on using it for a short time would to use new gaskets and give the head a freshen up. This is what i did with my old 3t and drove the car for about other year or so till a front brake caliper seized, the bottom raditor hose blew, the heater core got hole in it and i traded it. Quote

I got my I on a 4K at work that has never been fired in its life....... thats my style  , but the limited amount of WA members the only people to trade with like dan, lappy, TWINCAM87, Mitch, madrolla68 and the other jounior sedan boys(sorry if i forgot any one) . And i don't think any one has 3T parts laying around big shout out to dan for the engine trade, got it in last week and i'm spewing :jamie: (coz it running better than ever  ) why did i paint it yellow, it's frigen hard to keep clean Quote
Dan Posted July 17, 2006 Report Posted July 17, 2006 Haha, no worries man.. thought the yellow would be a bitch to keep clean, whats it in, your kesev? And naaah, no 3T bits lying around my place :jamie: Quote
roids70 Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 i know someone has probably said this already but i just got a full rebuild kit priced for my 3tc and its about 600 bucks for everything including oversized pistons, anoother 100 bucks for the acid dip for the block and it to be bored, so there's 700 bucks for me and i can also get the head checked over for free, but i got a rebuild kit priced with standard pistons and its about 550 ish, so i don't know how much cheaper without pistons it will be, but.. u will be very lucky if u can get a rebuild kit without pistons, unless u wanna buy everything sepereatly, but u never know they could have something like that Cheers sean Quote
chrisandliz[RL] Posted July 24, 2006 Author Report Posted July 24, 2006 i had to bite the bullet and spend $55 on the ACL ring :P i'm getting the head done for $110, and the gaskits and oil seals are costing $45. so my cheap ass rebuild cost me $210 :P so a little over budget Quote
irokin Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 Caws if you didnt you'll have the engine open again pretty soon.... Quote
