hi, boyz.

i just got a 3t-c.

i was doing some research and i read about 18r.

is there some way of getting one in to my ke70 or is there some hiden rule about stealing for bigger bother models?

i have a t50 gearbox, and the celica has a w50. is there any way that you can get a 18r to run with a t50 on it?or do i need to use the w50

this is my 3tc i'm gonna remove the E crap and put a weber on it!

why would you want to put a 18r in fullstop!!??

I had one in a corona wagon, gutless as hell for a 2lt, heck a 3k is better!!

well this i what i wanted, feed back and testimonies

any thing else i should/need to know?

If he wants to put an 18R into a Ke70, so be it. Hes not committing any crimes

there was no R series motors that bolt straight up into any of the *E7* series; id say theres some modification involved.

Oh, and if anyone else posts in here "oh thats a crap conversion / don't do it / etc - I'm just going to delete your post, hands down no questions asked.

I'm not saying don't do it,

I'm just saying hes downgrading from a 4k to a 18r

If your going to the effort to fit a 18r, then go the extra mile to fit a 18rg.

He asked for opinions, i gave him mine. ive owned one, its crap for a 2lt.

If you do go through then good luck mate!

18R's and RG's were not an awe inspiring engine. Paint it blue, that way you wont scare the fish when you throw it overboard. :hmm:

I'd go the T option over the R

^^ I concur,

A mate of mine built a group G Mazda with an 18RG, and he said the engine just didn't make a worthwhile $-to-BHP ratio..

Yes, you can pull good numbers with an 18RG, but getting the good stuf for them these days is getting really difficult. They're a bit tricky to build a strong one, and have a nasty tendency to spin main bearings. They're also a HEAVY engine.

I'd still be looking at the t option.

18R was the engine run in the late 70s and early 80s Hiluxes and TA28 Celicas, am I correct?

Well if the 18R fits in the engine bay (what crossmember would be used) of a KE70, would the diesel Hilux motor fit? Be a good paddock basher if you had the bits laying around (like I might just happen to)...

Oh ok, so thats where all the model designations come from.. ie AE71 = A series motor, KE55 = K series motor.. does that continue in the ZZE models?
