irokin Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 I thought the vans had the 7K? they had both. Late mode have 7K, the 1980s versions are the 5Ks Quote
ke1x Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 I thought the vans had the 7K? newer ones do. 5ks were produced around 1983-92. KM30/36 liteaces had 5k's. 7k's have the longer stroke. you need to do sump mods on 7k's. at least to go in the earlier ke1x series. may not be such a problem in a later corolla. Quote
David[RL] Posted May 28, 2004 Author Report Posted May 28, 2004 I have a 4k, not 4k-e, I don't have injection either has the 5k injection? Quote

David[RL] Posted June 5, 2004 Author Report Posted June 5, 2004 I have searched the web alittle and found out I can change my 4K engine with 4A-C ? doesn't require to use injection, simple engine conversion than 4A-GE, alot to do, fuel injection, clutch, etc 5k, 7k ? not alot of power but..? is there any major differences between the 4A-C and 4A-GE? what cars should I look for when I want a 4A-C ? do I still have to change to hydro.. clutch? -David Quote
andrew Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 a 4ac hasent got the grunt of a 4age. the difference is 4age is twin cam(the proper style) and obviously efi. 4ac is just sohc. look for them in ae71 model corollas (the last rear wheel drive model after yours) or even drop a fwd one from a ae82 or something in it. these engines have more power over the k's and are also very easy to get power. fit a 32/36 weber, extractors, 2 inch exhaust, give it a cam regrind, while your at it shave the head and port/polish. also try to get the electronic dizzy model. i did most of this to the 4ac in my ae71 wagon and it went f^&kin hard. you will still need to change cross members etc as it is still a "A" family engine. hope that helped :) Quote

Yes..they are very very different. I think the only things that are really interchangable are like the water pump and a few other bits and pieces. That said the engine mounts are the same I believe (correct me if I'm wrong people) so if you convert to a 4A-C and then want to upgrade to a 4A-GE there isnt quite as much work to do. Cars with the 4A-C? AE86 AE71 AE82* AE91* * Deotes a FWD engine layout Id be hunting for a spirit (AE71) or AE86 Quote

andrew Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 you can inter change the heads, eg. put a 4age head onto a 4ac block, as the blocks are the same. just the internals on a 4age are stronger Quote

Hrmm I thought they were very different....unlike the Ks Just on another note you don't HAVE to have a 4A-GE you could allways grab the carbys off an AW11 MR2 and run a 4A-G Quote
andrew Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 also very true. i seen this done in a celica, not as complicated, but works well. redline even make manifolds for 4age's to take twin webers etc. Quote
Peter Posted June 28, 2004 Report Posted June 28, 2004 det glemmer at fortell dig om 7k motoren den kommer fra senere "townace" kassevogn circa 2000 modelen du maa undskyld mit Norsk/dansk den er lidt rustet. the 7k motor will bolt straight up to your k model gearbox i know of one in a ke17 and he had to modify the sump to suit the earlier model some of them come with efi 1800cc bolt up conversion peter Quote
