red mango Posted November 12, 2006 Author Report Posted November 12, 2006 (edited) after several months of waiting (had too much delay with the shop and weather issues), the body works and repainting are almost complete. while very very patiently waiting for the work to progress, i was able to work out a few things for the car. - a set of brand new tail light lens ;) - a set of brand new signal lights (fender) - weatherstrips for the windshield and rear window - had the tail light lens frame repaired and painted by fiberglass maker - had the hood vents, trunk vents, grille, flares measured against the body, repainted and ready for installation i will post pics of these parts soon. attached pics show the car on final coat of paint. finishing touches on the interior and undercoat remain to be done before installation of engine. check out the "before pics" on the fist page and see how better it looks now. have to say i can't wait to get this baby up and running. i'm hoping before the holiday season - which would make it a very nice gift to myself. haha. cheers  Edited November 12, 2006 by red mango Quote

red mango Posted November 28, 2006 Author Report Posted November 28, 2006 i originally intended to put in a 4age engine. late last night, i chanced upon a 4agze selling at a very good price. it was too good to pass up. so looked at the engine this morning and bought it right away. it's afm (with dli) ze. and the bonus is the guy gave all the other halfcut parts that came with it (from an ae92 corolla). including the oem supercharger instrumentation cluster :y: here's a pic of the engine. i'll post pics of the other parts soon. Rolla__Boy Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 Love the colour, LOVE that wheel pic, love the 4AGZE This one gets a big :y: :y: :y: from me :y: Quote
red mango Posted December 1, 2006 Author Report Posted December 1, 2006 (edited) thanks Rolla_Boy! here are pics of the brand new tail light lens, a pair of headlight trims i had restored, flywheel & pressure plate from a 4age 20v and a new clutch disc, waterpump. although now, i'm wondering if the oem 20v pressure plate and clutch disc will be able to deal with the ze's power. been reading a lot of posts re use of aftermarket heavy duty clutch kits. i guess i'll find out soon enough. and i'll post the story here. engine is scheduled to be reconditioned early next week. we're planning to replace only the following: timing belt tensioner bearing water pump valve seals cam oil seals crank oil seal head gasket spigot bearing (add) all external belts since the ze only had 32k kms in its odometer, we're not going to touch the block and other internals. from the forums, a lot of people mention sourcing the t50 tranny. unfortunately, i overlooked a few small parts that should come along with the tranny. namely these are: clutch fork release bearing (for rwd) release bearing hub release bearing hub pins (2 pcs) it seems the t50's from wreckers do not include these quite hard-to-source items. i was fortunate enough to complete these items too. :) Edited December 1, 2006 by red mango Quote
