So you've been working on your car and your hands are covered in grease, oil and dirt and you need to clean them

What do you use?

Suggestions so far:

  • Jiff
  • Clothes Washing Powder
  • Dynamo
  • Degreaser
  • Gojo
  • Kerosine
  • Septone Pink Hand Cleaner
  • Pump Pack Soap Combined With Washing Powder
  • Dishwashing Liquid
  • Preen
  • Protecta Pink
  • Solvol
  • Dawn Dish Soap
  • Thinners / Prepsol (For removing paint from your hands)
  • Dishwashing Liquid (Rub into your hands and let it dry BEFORE you start)
  • Septone Orange Scrub
  • Heavy Duty Truck Wash (Good for washing your car too)

Theres only one thing that gets it off really well....Solvol.... :)

*disclaimer: May take 3 layers of skin off with the grease*

All of the above are great, and I have used those in the past... :)

We had some crazy 'gojo' stuff on a sexy lookin wall-mounted dispenser... and it smelt real noice!!! :y:

I find degreaser in a can and solvol soap works great... had some coarse gooey shit, but ran out of it (daddy didn't bring home anymore :))

Though, I try to remember to wear riggers gloves while i'm working...

Lately the only thing I can get my hands on is washing up detergent.

My mate whos a mechanic uses some hand cleaning stuff at his work thats got like grains of sand in it, and its got moisturiser. The grains of sands help rub of the grease

Whats a pair of those gloves worth?

think they cost me about $30. not cheap, but well worth it. i just leave them soak after use overnight, then put them through the washing machine. :)
