cuzzo Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 (edited) Hey fellas, Just want to know wtf is going on here. I have a ke30 77 model. The front seats are they old vinyl, good nick, but need some bucket. My selt belt clip (The part which holds the belt in) is bolts TO the seat on the side. I'm buying some new bucket seats just want to know, where do i put the old seat belt. clip. The new buckets don't have a hole for the belt. Well not that I'm aware of as i havent bought them yet. I also noticed that some ke30 and ke55 have the selt belt bolted through the floor. What going on here guys? Edited June 18, 2006 by cuzzo Quote
ToDa30/4 Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 u need to buy or make a mounting plate to mount the belt . :) Quote
Raven Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 Depending on the buckle, u can get seat belt/buckle and bolt it to the floor under one of the seat rails and use the seat rail bolt to bolt it to the floor. Worked for me when I fitted KE35 seats into my KE36 panel van and had to change all that over. Quote
Redwarf Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 Have a bit of a rumage around on your transmission tunnel, I'd have thought that perhaps under the carpet there may be the anchor points to bolt a stalk to.... Quote
Raven Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 I pulled all the vinyl up on my panel van when i did the swap and there wasnt. May be a different story in a KE30 though. :) Let us all know what you find! Quote
demuire Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 My KE35 shell (now my AE35) had seatbelts bolted to the seat rails too, but also had holes for floor mounted belts. Quote
cuzzo Posted June 18, 2006 Author Report Posted June 18, 2006 ok i guess i have to pull up my new carpet to find the holes. if they exist...... Quote
ca18rolla Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 don't pull the carpet up mate, Slide under the car and look for them you 'll see them on the floor pan then push a old sharpened up screwdriver through or something else up thin and sharp enough to piece the carpet. Quote
Rolla__Boy Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 You wont be able to use the actual buckle bit from your seat to bolt to the floor, it is the wrong shape...and NOWHERE near long enough. The bodies all have the holes on the floor for the other seat belts, but you will need to find a car with another set that does bolt to the floor. Quote
thomo Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 if you don't have holes in the floor, drill some! use standard seat buckle bolts (like rolla boy said, the long stalks) a nut underneath the car, and a 2"x2" washer/plate under the floor, technicaly it requires eng. but its definatly legal Quote
cuzzo Posted June 18, 2006 Author Report Posted June 18, 2006 Thanks guys. I have a wrecked ke55 which has the seat belts. thanks for the great info. Quote

cuzzo Posted June 19, 2006 Author Report Posted June 19, 2006 Well i was going to have a look underneath but couldnt be bothered to jack it up. So i had the backseat out already and felt around underneath. Felt a rubber plug and thought, yeah that must be for drainage....Pulled it off and theres a thread underneath. Woohoo thanks heaps guys. ca18rolla Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 Yeah i would be carefully with the washer idea. I would say you could be defected straight up for that and insurance could void you too. All a engineer would wanna see though, would be a few tacks on the washer to the floor pan and maybe some on the nut to the washer. Goodluck! Quote
thomo Posted June 24, 2006 Report Posted June 24, 2006 legaly a washer if you had to use it doesnt need to be welded on, it just has to be the right size and thickness, its the same as if you fit raceing harness, they just have to not pull through in an accident, nobody cares what keeps them there (unless the rules have changed since my last visit to the engineer) Quote
