bernieboy Posted June 6, 2006 Report Posted June 6, 2006 Hi guys, I was wondering if there are any wheel shops in Vic that specialise in widening steel rims. If you could point me in the direction it would be greatly appreciated. Preferably near the western or nothern suburbs. Berns Quote

bernieboy Posted June 7, 2006 Author Report Posted June 7, 2006 Really? Cool but the thing is i have no welding skills at all. Quote
Rolla__Boy Posted June 7, 2006 Report Posted June 7, 2006 Pretty much any decent wheel shop should be able to widen a wheel for you. Or any engineering & fabrication mob should have no troubles doing it. "Let your fingers do the walking" Use the phone book Quote
coln72 Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 Here is how I did it 1. got a pair of 13x6 chromies off a Torana at a swap meet (made sure that the centres were fully welded in not spot welded) 2. used a grinder to cut welds. Belted centres to remove them from rims. Now have a pair of 6" rims with no centres 3. Corolla rims have the centres spot welded in so get a big arse drill and drill out spot welds. Again belt with hammer to remove centres. 4. Stick corolla centres into 6" rims. Bolt to car and decide on the offset you want. Start motor and run car in gear (jack up first :faq: ) to make sure that they are running true. When they are right get someone to tack it together. 5. unbolt and take to engineering shop/boiler maker etc to weld together. The above wheels held together in an accident - side ways into bank - without any problems. Quote
