Killswitch Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 Well 12a is not mine... there was some confusion between the seller and his housemate and the motor was sold to a person they thought was me... but wasn't! :D Ah wells, oportunities come and go! Quote
scuba_steve86 Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 You need to cut about 2 to 2-1/2 inches deep out of the x/member so the sump will clear.and then put the strength back in with a few braces and some plate. i'll try to find some photo's of mine when i made it and put them up. that would be ausome..any other info i need to know or other then ive stated..thanks man Quote
Taz_Rx Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 (edited) :D :D :D :D 1, having had both a 12a and currently a 13b, there is not much difference between the 2 engines. a bridge ported 12a will beat a stock 13b anyday,......hell one of my mates 12abp 323 is quicker than my 13bbp down the quarter!!!! 2, rx4 4 speeds are still findable quite easy if you look in the right places.....www.ausrotary.com :D rx5/121 5 speeds are also quite a good box and arn't too hard to find either. expect to pay anywere between $200 - $350. 3, don't bother with a s4 turbo box for an NA 12a or 13b, your looking at atleast $400 for the box and will have to upgrade the clutch and flywheel to the s4 9.5 inch items. if you wanna start pushing 300+hp, then look at this option. 4, yes its quite common to see people running up to about 400hp with a corona 4 speed, so this is another viable option. 5, $100 for a 6 port 12a, which ancillaries means its f@$ked. 6, another option with the cross member/sump deal is to make a custom sump and oil pick up!! toyrota Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 If you run an RX4 bell housing you wont need to change to 9.5in clutch. So for an extra 200 or so bucks plus a bellhousing u'll know you wont be walking home when you're 30 yearold box craps itself Quote
scuba_steve86 Posted September 2, 2006 Report Posted September 2, 2006 wats the common price 2 buy a 12a these days? Quote
Des Posted September 4, 2006 Report Posted September 4, 2006 (edited) the lowest ive seen is $400 and not needing a rebuild. a freind is rebuilding a rx4 from ground up and got a rebuilt 13b j port minus the dizzy, alternater and carby's for $1500.but has webers on it now and paid neally $1000 for them. Edited September 4, 2006 by too quick Quote
Taz_Rx Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 you would want to pay about $500 to ensure you're not buying a POS!!! thats why I said before that $100 for a "perfectly running" 12a would be a bit too cheap!! ;) Quote
Jono Posted September 8, 2006 Report Posted September 8, 2006 i've been told its hard to get aftermarket manifolds for 6 port 12a Quote
TOY3TG Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006 my mate was running a 4 speed RX4 box in his 13b turbo still has it and is for sale if interested, why not get a normal 12A and put injection on it u would get more power, and yes thats right 12a's and 13b's are hard to tell the difference in driving no matter what aspriation its only 100cc's difference ive seen 12ats beat 13bts 12a stockport beat 13b stock port , it all depends on what gear and tuning u throw at them 100cc aint going to make much difference, the only difference being 12as are probly cheaper to buy second hand than a 13b but a 13b would probly be cheaper to rebuild. scuba_steve86 Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 is it hard to convert a 12a stocker into 12at + injection Quote
HEKTIC Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 sorry about how off topic this is but scuba_steve86 considering the recent events i think ur name is in very bad taste Quote
Taz_Rx Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 is it hard to convert a 12a stocker into 12at + injection not very hard, but not very viable either. ideally you would de-comp 12at rotors and a 12at injection set up............bottom line,........better off just buying a 12at!!! scuba_steve86 Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 sorry about how off topic this is but scuba_steve86 considering the recent events i think ur name is in very bad taste my bad sorry guys Quote
Raven Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 I'm pretty sure scuba_steve86 had his name WAY before the "bad event" happened. Quote
MR.KE70 Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 go a 13 bridge port. They go hard and are alot of fun. but, 12as are just as good and go just as hard. depends on what port ur puttin in it(if any at all) thats my thought Quote
