Blue_rolla Posted May 11, 2006 Report Posted May 11, 2006 well i aint had my rolla that long...but i don't wanna rev it out before i shift...motor is 4k with 4 speed g/box...what revs shuld i change at...and whats a safe rev to take the motor to...asin the highest i shuld take it eva too :) Quote
Teddy Posted May 11, 2006 Report Posted May 11, 2006 4k redline in a ke70 is apparently 5400 rpm or 5600 rpm (from 2 different, genuine toyota advertising material pieces) with the tacho saying 6,000 rpm. As long as you remember, its a 4k, not a 20B :) Quote
st.nick Posted May 11, 2006 Report Posted May 11, 2006 ^^ I concur... 5-6k RPM. Rev it til you can feel that its not pulling anymore, then grab the next cog!! Quote
Rolla__Boy Posted May 11, 2006 Report Posted May 11, 2006 Take the car to a shop that has a dyno...and get them to tell you when it hits peak power...and there is never any point in reving it further than that Quote
love ke70 Posted May 12, 2006 Report Posted May 12, 2006 mine pulls from 2500 and starts to run out of balls at 5300-5500 but as rolla boy said, get it dynod and see where power falls off with a stock carb good luck in getting it to give you fuel anywhere after 6000 :) Quote
Rolla__Boy Posted May 12, 2006 Report Posted May 12, 2006 N/A My 5K runs out of power above 4500 on the dyno...so I only rev it to 6 because of the effect it has on the people I fly past hehe Quote
Killswitch Posted May 12, 2006 Report Posted May 12, 2006 (edited) 4k redline in a ke70 is apparently 5400 rpm or 5600 rpm (from 2 different, genuine toyota advertising material pieces) with the tacho saying 6,000 rpm. As long as you remember, its a 4k, not a 20B :) I didn't know that! now I feel sorta bad for hitting 6800rpm or so :) Really should get a tacho :) Edited May 12, 2006 by Killswitch Quote
Trev Posted May 12, 2006 Report Posted May 12, 2006 Considering the 4k has its maximum hp at 5600rpm id say that you can rev past that but you wont make anymore power. Quote
Dave71 Posted May 12, 2006 Report Posted May 12, 2006 just rev it till interior vibrates, then change, hahaha, you wont blow it up Quote
Medicine_Man Posted May 13, 2006 Report Posted May 13, 2006 I concur, If you valve bounce it then it is time to change gear :) Quote
love ke70 Posted May 13, 2006 Report Posted May 13, 2006 see people say that, but everytime i do. something goes wrong. for example: coming out of toll booth heading away from Brisbane just been and delivered engine and box to ian, so we had the trailer on the back. i come out and just nail it up to about 6500 and she starts to feel pretty bloody shaky so we change gear, only to find shes now running on 3. so i drive the 50 KM home with a very sick 4k and in the mornin pull rocker cover off to fnd a pushrod had managed to slide out from under the rocker so no.3 inlet had been jammed shut the whole way home. moral of the story: it was easy to fix and thrashing a 4k is great fun, but theres always somethin thats gonna go wrong :) Quote
Teddy Posted May 13, 2006 Report Posted May 13, 2006 lol - love the sig Justin :) Oh those were the days ! She aint pullin untill 7k these days :) Quote
mikeys toy[RL] Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 stock 4ke ecu has a 6100 rpm redline and all the starlet tacho's had a 6000 redline, so i think that would be about it......... Quote
Blue_rolla Posted May 14, 2006 Author Report Posted May 14, 2006 ok thanks people...its just my first time with a corolla :) Quote
