chrisandliz[RL] Posted May 15, 2006 Author Report Posted May 15, 2006 when i bolted the head on the engine had just come back from being re bored and dippin' and so it was as clean as a whistle. why would having the carbi out of tune allow the motor to run at 4000rpm when hot and idle normally but rough cold??? :D can some one please tell me how to post a pic? i can't seem to be able to do it? Felix Posted May 15, 2006 Report Posted May 15, 2006 haven't got a vacuum leak? spray carby cleaner or wd40 around all the gasket mating surfaces while the car is running. if the engine speed changes you have a vacuum leak. Quote
love ke70 Posted May 15, 2006 Report Posted May 15, 2006 why would having the carbi out of tune allow the motor to run at 4000rpm when hot and idle normally but rough cold??? maybe running way rich...close to stalling when its cold, but when it warms up it burns all that excess fuel. to post a pic i just upload them photobucket and put the image tag in the thread have you considered talking to carbie people? Felix Posted May 15, 2006 Report Posted May 15, 2006 if it is hell rich, it will run better cold than when hot. Quote
chrisandliz[RL] Posted May 16, 2006 Author Report Posted May 16, 2006 well i took it to get the rear muffler changed of a two inch sports, so that i can try out thomo idea of the stuffed muffler. :D Quote
love ke70 Posted May 16, 2006 Report Posted May 16, 2006 shoulda just pulled the muffler off and see if it improved any :D Quote
chrisandliz[RL] Posted May 16, 2006 Author Report Posted May 16, 2006 too hard, and i wanted to change it any way :D Quote
madrolla68 Posted May 16, 2006 Report Posted May 16, 2006 too hard, and i wanted to change it any way :D Bring it around ill have a look at it for you. :( Quote
Felix Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 a mechanical pump isn't ideal, but i doubt it would cause the problems they have described. i had a cracked inlet manifold at one stage. it made it run a lot faster when the engine warmed. probably had something to do with the crack growing when the thing warmed up and making more of a vacuum leak. if the thing is idling at 4 grand when it is warm, it has to be getting extra air from somewhere. madrolla68 Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 Chrisandliz I looked at your photos You're running your side-draft weber off the standard mechanical fuel pump? I think we have worked out why your engine isn't running properly... Nick,up until i put the NOS on i was running the STD pump for both carbies without issues. Quote

Exactly,i have offered to have a look at it for them ,so we will see if i can find anything Quote
chrisandliz[RL] Posted May 18, 2006 Author Report Posted May 18, 2006 well , i too though it was the fuel pump. then i found out that the standard fuel pump puts out 4-9 psi of fuel presuse, and sidedrafts only like 2-4 psi. so i put a fuel presure reg on it. made a differance. but i feel its a tuning issue still :D Quote
