Banjo Posted September 18, 2017 Author Report Posted September 18, 2017 Hi Dave, Those COPs I used are still on ebay for less than $ 17.00. They are stocked here in Australia, so it only took 3-4 days to get hold of them, & postage was free ! http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/4x-Ignition-Coils-for-Toyota-Yaris-2005-2013-Prius-Echo-1NZ-FE-2NZ-FE-1-3L-1-5L/282068263689?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 Cheers Banjo Quote
philbey Posted September 19, 2017 Report Posted September 19, 2017 (edited) very nice work. I'm doing my second 'learn to solder' project and the next one I buy will be a megasquirt I reckon.... What options have you looked at for crank triggers? Edited September 19, 2017 by philbey Quote
ke70dave Posted September 19, 2017 Report Posted September 19, 2017 I am also about the pull the trigger on a megasquirt purchase:) Not a bad price on those yaris coils, i might do some measuring. Quote
philbey Posted September 29, 2017 Report Posted September 29, 2017 you going to DIY build it Dave? Quote
ke70dave Posted September 29, 2017 Report Posted September 29, 2017 Considering it. How hard can it be? Solder the things, let the smoke out of them....wait. Quote
rebuilder86 Posted September 29, 2017 Report Posted September 29, 2017 jeesus christ and here i am thinkin I'm all clever workin on making my carburettor automatic variable mixture. this is just insane. total respect from me here, I'm impressed, i don't think i could bring myself to manufacturing all the parts to make this engine efi or electronic spark. just seems so difficult Quote
Banjo Posted November 5, 2017 Author Report Posted November 5, 2017 (edited) I finally got my 4 Wire connectors yesterday, for the Echo/Yaris CPOs, I am using . What a drama ! Just wiring them all up on the head & frame I made. Used a micro programmed to four outputs, at any rate (rpm) I want, & with adjustable dwell. Went searching for what sort of input voltage/ current is required for the IGT (trigger) input. Came across this video. https://www.scannerdanner.com/chapter-22-no-spark-troubleshooting-ignition-coil-module-testing/154-operation-and-testing-coil-over-plug-ignition-4-wire-toyota-lexus.html If you are interested in how the COP system actually works, as a few respondents to this post have; then this video is a must. It actually refers to the Toyota COPs used on the Echo / Yaris. Cheers Banjo Edited November 7, 2017 by Banjo Quote
