Trent-KE30 Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 Hey all me and mate just made an interesting discovery, when you put the throttle flat the secondary doesn't even open, we tried this on my mates TA23 and it did the same are they governed from the factory or our are carbs rooted? Cheers Trent Quote
lappy Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 (edited) was the car running? if not the secondaries are most probably vacuum secondaries i know the corolla ones are. wait for more of an expert to put in there opinion Edited April 30, 2006 by lappy Quote
Trent-KE30 Posted April 30, 2006 Author Report Posted April 30, 2006 Oh I see what you mean, No I didn't I'll check that, Thanks For That Lappy :P Quote
Robert Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 The secondaries on my 4K open when you put the throttle flat. Quote
lappy Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 maybe robert yours is a mechanical secondary Quote
Trent-KE30 Posted April 30, 2006 Author Report Posted April 30, 2006 Rob is that when the motor is on or off? Quote
coln72 Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 The secondaries have two butterflies, one opens with the throttle and one is controlled by engine vacumm (it is attatched to the weight thingy on the outside of the carb). Quote
coln72 Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 Yor can unscrew the vacumm butterfly if you want. Don' t know what effect it would have........ Quote
Felix Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 you'd end up with a huge flatspot if you mashed the throttle at low revs. Quote
Trent-KE30 Posted May 1, 2006 Author Report Posted May 1, 2006 Lol Thanks Doug and Col :P I knew they had to work Quote
coln72 Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 not necessarily Doug. Did that in my club car and it was fine in motorkhanas. Quote
Felix Posted May 2, 2006 Report Posted May 2, 2006 depends on how heavy breathing the engine is i suppose. a stock 4k probably would not like it, but a 5k probably could take it. a quick easy test is to wire the flapper valve open, and go for a drive. Quote
Trev Posted May 2, 2006 Report Posted May 2, 2006 Put a spring on your secondary so it opens easier. Quote
