Medicine_Man Posted March 9, 2007 Author Report Posted March 9, 2007 Resetting the float level of the rear carb this morning has made it better than it has been, Going to get it tuned properly next week. Drove it home and when you open it out it does go nice.. Quote
Paul Posted March 10, 2007 Report Posted March 10, 2007 Just out of curiosity, when was the last time you changed your dizzy leads? I remember my 4A-C missing and not running right at one stage and changing the leads fixed mine. Did you put all new on when you hooked up the electric dizzy? Quote
Medicine_Man Posted March 10, 2007 Author Report Posted March 10, 2007 Yep, Brand spanking new leads when I installed the electronic dizzy. We swapped the leads around on 1 & 2 and the problem was still on #2, Comes down to fine tuning of the carbs which we found quite weird to just affect #2. Quote
Medicine_Man Posted March 12, 2007 Author Report Posted March 12, 2007 Booked in next monday to have the carbs tuned, Hopefully its nothing major and its cheap to get sorted.. Quote
Medicine_Man Posted March 15, 2007 Author Report Posted March 15, 2007 f@$king Piece of shit has an exhaust leak starting again.. Going to be fun to drive in peak hour traffic tomorrow morning, Just what I wanted.. Quote
Teddy Posted March 15, 2007 Report Posted March 15, 2007 your manifolds been matched / surface plained? along with the ports surface? Quote
Medicine_Man Posted March 15, 2007 Author Report Posted March 15, 2007 Had a closer look and found the cause which pissed me off a tad. Mechanic at work didn't put 3 of the offset washers back on properly, They were sealing the intake manifold fine but #2 / #3 / #4 are not sealing down properly.. Story short, It has f@$ked the gasket and the carbs have to come off to replace it again.. Quote
Medicine_Man Posted March 15, 2007 Author Report Posted March 15, 2007 I can't really complain, They did all the work for me for free. At the end of a day its only a gasket, Just the time to fix it is the real prick.. Quote
Medicine_Man Posted March 19, 2007 Author Report Posted March 19, 2007 Bolts unwound, Tightened them up and it got me to work Friday and today. Took it down to get the carbs tuned today, so looking foward to having it run properly. Quote

Retrospekt Posted March 19, 2007 Report Posted March 19, 2007 where are you getting it tuned? i think i remember you saying you live on the sunny coast.... Quote
Medicine_Man Posted March 19, 2007 Author Report Posted March 19, 2007 Was working on the sunny coast before (Recarb fitted them for me) But I had other problems causing the idle to be unstable. The mechanics where I work now diagnosed it and helped me fix it, Just now the carbs are out of tune. Its at a carb shop at wooloongabba at the moment so fingers crossed it should haul arse when I get it back.. Quote
Retrospekt Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 Have the mechanics you have spoken to said anything about the size of carb you are using? George Wegener was very hesitant to help me out when i told him what size engine and carbs i will be using. Quote
Medicine_Man Posted March 20, 2007 Author Report Posted March 20, 2007 Nothing wrong with twin 40s, Perfect size for a K motor.. Quote
Medicine_Man Posted April 28, 2007 Author Report Posted April 28, 2007 Idle is good scince I dropped it in to have the carbs balanced and tuned. Had a problem with some bolts unwinding and f@$king the gasket in the process. Fixed the gasket problem today and loctite on the bolts hopefully have solved the problem.. Ran them up some more when the engine was warm so hopefully its all good now *touches wood* Quote
