Hi guys I know this has been talked about many times, but recently I have put some xt130 struts into my ke30 2dr and have come across a clearance issue with the lcas and the brake rotor. I'm running stock lcas and 86 steering arms but the lcas are rubbing on the rotor. Is there something I'm missing or does anyone have any ideas as to why or what I need to do. Thanks in advance for any help

Hi Steve,

Do you mean the rotors are touching the rotors when turning hard left or right, or when the the steering is pointing straight ahead ? Where exactly on the LCAs are the rotors touching ? Just one side or both sides ? A pic showing where it is touching would help, as I'm scatching my head as to where you've gone wrong.

Yeah you need to either remove your rcas (if you have them) and tap the end of the lca flat (and you'll only just get clearance) or use xt130 steering arms which have an offset ball joint hole, which pushes the rotor away from the lca by about 10mm.

The xt130 arms are really long and suck for steering. I ended up getting mine cut and shut the same length as ae86 power steering arms.

As far as I know there isn't a bolt on steering arm with an offset ball joint hole that will work that is shorter than xt130. I did a lot of research.

You 'could' run offset rcas but they aren't ideal.

Cheers guys, so it sounds like it's the offset of the arms that are giving me the problem as there is no clearance at all in any wheel position. so I've got some new struts coming this week and I'll grab the arms aswell.would ncrcas work?

On same topic I'm going to convert the other struts to coilover any thoughts on best products around I've read otomoto is the go.

Get the shortened by someone who knows what they are doing. Best thing I did to my steering when I realised I had to run them.

I got zero ackerman too. Probably not ideal for the street but it felt amazing to drive on.
