vascorama Posted November 7, 2016 Report Posted November 7, 2016 I need one of these kits and i´m not finding it anywhere for sale... My chains are a bit loose, and the mechanic says its best to put all including tensioners... Do i have to sell the car? :( Quote
parrot Posted November 8, 2016 Report Posted November 8, 2016 2tb (pushrod single cam with twin downdraft carbs) or 2tg (twin overhead cam with twin sided raft carbs)? 2tb chain plus tensioner and slides are easy enough to find (although the curve slide less so). If a 2tg, the top can chain can be sourced from specialists (sleeka spares). US eBay is a good source for the 2tb stuff, 3tc being the same. Quote
vascorama Posted November 8, 2016 Author Report Posted November 8, 2016 (edited) It´s a 2TG, i´ve looked a good part of the internet so far...and saw nothing :( Edited November 8, 2016 by vascorama Quote

Some people have looked into getting their old chain guides recoated. So don't throw your old ones out. Quote

vascorama Posted November 8, 2016 Author Report Posted November 8, 2016 Wow! Is the 3TC the same chains/tensioners? Are you sure parrot?I don´t know a lot about this parrot, but i wanted to purchase the whole parts list that goest in there, i guess something like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/PEG-TOYOTA-1979-82-1-8L-1770cc-3TC-4-Cyl-Timing-Set-76003-/131676811939?hash=item1ea88cb2a3:g:hvQAAOSwZ1lWb~8U&vxp=mtr http://www.ebay.com/itm/NOS-TOYOTA-COROLLA-1-6-1-8-2TC-3TC-TIMING-CHAIN-13506-25010-/162247196193?hash=item25c6afbe21:g:fuoAAOSwzaJX6MDa&vxp=mtr But there´s still missing the upper part of it, that one i saw it when i removed the cam cover, a chain and a tensioner. I don´t want to abuse you, but since i don´t know much about this and i see you do, can you send me the "to buy list" in links? Thanks in advance Quote
TRD ke70 Posted November 8, 2016 Report Posted November 8, 2016 http://toyheadauto.com/PerformancePages/2TG_Parts.html have a look.... Quote
parrot Posted November 8, 2016 Report Posted November 8, 2016 The 2TG has a separate bottom chain with chain damper and chain tensioner, and another top chain to drive the camshafts with 2 chain dampers and a slipper tensioner. The bottom chain, damper and tensioner are the same on a 2TC, 3TC and 2TG. The 2TC and 3TC don't have overhead cams so don't need the top chain arrangement. The bottom chain parts are easily available as per the link you posted. The top chain parts are quite a bit harder and significantly more expensive if you do find them! Quote
parrot Posted November 8, 2016 Report Posted November 8, 2016 http://www.retrojdm.com/ScanView.asp?ScanID=28 This is a link to the factory engine manual which may help out Quote

vascorama Posted November 8, 2016 Author Report Posted November 8, 2016 Parrot, are you aware if the bottom parts are the same as the 2TB engine? Quote
parrot Posted November 8, 2016 Report Posted November 8, 2016 Yes. 2tb bottom is the same as 2tc 3tc 2tg Quote
