diegoh Posted October 7, 2016 Report Posted October 7, 2016 (edited) Is anyone running a 3vz, mz or gr v6 in any front engined rwd pre 84 corollas celicas? Ive been looking at the torque of all the toy v6 engines are their weights designs etc. I will be happy with 230hp for a supercharged v6 as I'm interested in torque VZ-e 8v heads are very light, cheap new and very compact for engine space. The 3vz-e heads on a 3mzfe bottom end all head bolts line up and all water galleries more or less match up, oil feed is spot on and oil drain is easy. VZ-e e heads just need little opening up on water galleries after looking at the gaskets its all very possible. Some oil drain holes on MZ need sealing etc. Might seem a brain fart in a world of multivalve twin cams for everything but at 8.2kg lighter each than 4v heads thats 16kg all up top! that I like. M90 eatons are cheap from 3.8L buicks and single 2 inch SU is enough no pollution gear is required here on birthplace Islands of Toyota :) Is there a way to fit any 6 speed boxes for rwd or a way to fully manualize some sort of modern 5 or 6 speed rwd lexus or ft86 transmission? diegoh Posted October 7, 2016 Author Report Posted October 7, 2016 (edited) For those wondering here is a pic of the 3vz vs mz bottom end green is where to seal and even oil feed matches up. Usually 3vz-e guys try just fit a 3vz-fe engine but I'm unconventional but all up the 3mz-e hybrid service weight of 3mzfe is 157kg minus 16kg for lighter 3vz-e heads, lighter flywheel/clutch and M90 eaton supercharger, compact inlet manifold & headers hopefully around 140kg Edited October 7, 2016 by diegoh Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted October 7, 2016 Report Posted October 7, 2016 From my research based around 2azfe I found the toyota v6 motors have similar bellhousing pattern to the s or az motors. Therefore its the typical y or s housing to suit w55 that will work best, it should centre on the dowels like the 2az does with s or Y, and three bolts shoold work and you can likely drill and tap more as I did. You might need to cut away some of the motor to fit a starter from the front ala rwd as the v6 engines you describe are usually starter from the rear. The other problem is inlet manifold, as its complex to design and make fit. Id prefer a 1gr with 5 speed behind it but that might be over the limit of ccs being 4 litre. Quote
diegoh Posted October 8, 2016 Author Report Posted October 8, 2016 (edited) Thanks for that info, I worried about the starter but the inlet manifold I'm paying someone else to make it out of a piece of billet as it ends up cheaper than tubing welds and flanges all up. Might even invest in a small billet charger than an eaton m90. Edited October 8, 2016 by diegoh Quote
tdg61 Posted November 27, 2016 Report Posted November 27, 2016 Was originally going to do this in a ke20. I have a 3vzfe at home mounted to a 3vz bell housing which bolts up perfectly. Its out of a hilux v6. I think they use r150 manual boxes and should mount up too. Only problem is 3vzfe mounts starter on housing. But I'm sure with a bit of grinding and spacing you could mount one up. I know its been done before by someone on toymods. Also one of the Zoom magazine guys had a 3.5 Camry v6 in a 86 sprinter. Hope that helps a bit. Quote
