norman907 Posted August 31, 2016 Report Posted August 31, 2016 (edited) Hey everyone, thanks for the forum add. My name is Mark, and I am new to Toyota and Corolla at that. I am certified in mobile electronics and have been installing them for 10 or so years. So I hope I can help anyone with audio, video, or remote start/security questions in the future. I bought this Corolla a couple of months ago to turn into my daily driver to save money and have another project. =) It has 157k original miles. Here is my problem, I recently just dove right in to swap the alternator. It only had 2 bolts holding it in and nowhere to tension it (like I've seen on other vehicles and in videos). Am I missing a part? I see nowhere to tension the belt after I put the new alternator in unless I pry for tension then tighten the top bolt at the same time. Thanks for your time and expertise. -Mark Edited August 31, 2016 by norman907 Quote
Hiro Protagonist Posted September 1, 2016 Report Posted September 1, 2016 Looks like you do exactly as you said and tighten it via a pry bar and that top slot. Later 4AFE and 7AFE alternators have an adjustable bottom bolt via a tapped block and jacking screw Do you have a picture of the alternator itself? Quote
norman907 Posted September 1, 2016 Author Report Posted September 1, 2016 Thanks for the really fast replies guys! I just wanted to double check it was pry tension, thought I might have been missing something. The one I had ordered was wrong (4AGE) I have the correct one on order now. Ill post a picture of it once its in. Quote
