Raven Posted April 24, 2006 Report Posted April 24, 2006 (edited) Anyone know anyone who has the plans or how to make up a set. My neighbour is handy with metalwork, so he could throw me a set together. I just need to know how to go about it. Cheers Mick Edited April 25, 2006 by AE35 Quote
Taz_Rx Posted May 5, 2006 Report Posted May 5, 2006 k-mack stut tops are only about $200 a set. other option is just redrill the top of the strut towers further into the engine bay. these are the k-macks in my rx4. basically all they are is 2 rings, 1 above, 1 below. the lower one has the bolts in it. the brass plate you can see is what attaches to the top of the strut. it is a round plate with the corner cut out of it (you can see one of the cut corners). this allowes you to be able to move the plate around the bolts. the rest of that brass plate gets sandwiched between the lower and upper rings to hold it in place. so.......you could probably pretty easily make a set out of your standard strut tops. NOTE - just remembered corollas have 3 bolts here, so rather than cutting the corners out, you would need to cut "V's" in the standard strut tops were the bolts are. (cut the bolts out) then its just a matter of cutting 2 suitable sized rings for the above and below, attaching some bolts to the lower one (a tack weld on the bottom of it would do) and then bolt it all together!! :P I think I might actually have a look at doing this to my car, cause it really would be easy, might even look into making for anybody else that would be interested!!?? irokin Posted May 5, 2006 Report Posted May 5, 2006 Someone on oldcorollas a few years back machined up some plates for KE20s. I think Ive still got a pair somewhere that I never finished (infact I don't think I ever really started). You still needed to make up the piece that connected to the strut but there were plans for that also. I can take a photo if you want, but they look just like any other camber top you'll see around.
